Wilson Combat 1911 magazine spring and follower in other magazines?

Does anyone know if I can buy the 1911 magazine springs and followers from Wilson Combat and install them into magazines from Colt?

I have a Colt Lightweight Officer 45acp and was having issues with occasional problem with failure to feed on the last round with the magazines that came with the gun (Colt ones). I should mention that this is an old gun I bought from my colleague who used to live in WA.

I bought 1 Wilson Combat magazine to try and it seems to have solved the last round FTF issues. I'm thinking, instead of throwing away those old mags, perhaps they can also be made reliable if I install the Wilson Combat spring and follower on them.

Has anyone done this before with success? Thanks.

I don't see how a slick plastic follower is going to fix anything. Go right to the source for springs. Wolff makes 'em for everything.

Having said that I actually used some Wilson parts in Ruger P90 mags long ago & they worked fine. A stronger spring will usually fix any last round feeding problems.

My Wilson 47Ds were a PITA until I made them 7 rounders & put the 8 round springs in the circular file where they belonged...

Yes, this is a magazine comparison picture I took, but the Colt made magazine on the left has Wilson internals.

This is the CONVEX follower. The one in the picture is made of metal, they are currently made of plastic (I have 3 metal, and 5 plastic). They are great.

      They can be bought here:
Shop magazines (701) at Brownells, including rifle, handgun, and shotgun magazines, as well as magazine accessories for reliable feeding and performance.

Just throwing this out there. The nighthawk custom mags are pretty damn good. I think the price is fair also

I use wilson etm mags and they run perfectly. I would buy a couple more wilson mags and keep the colt in case you sell the gun.

Agreed. (The only 1911 magazines I use are Tripp Cobra magazines and Wilson ETMs. That is it.)

I put the Tripp Research kits (spring and follower) in several 8-round Chip McCormick Power Mag tubes. It results in a seven-round magazine, even though it is using 8-round CMC tubes. But it results, in my experience, in a more reliable magazine. (I had occasional feeding issues with the CMC magazines, but did not want to toss them, so I bought the Tripp kits).
