Im looking for suggestions on a pistol light for a compact pistol. Ive got a TLR1 but its too long for a MP9c (wont fit). I like the SF XC1 but cant convince myself to spend that much money for a light. Im looking at the TLR3 at the moment and hoping to buy something during the holiday sales. What else should I be looking at in the $120 price range for a compact pistol.

I like my tlr3. Best option for my price range while not being China junk. Also has good specs and fits my g19 well. First one I had broke, busted bulb it looked like, streamlight took care of me no issues.
It was hard finding a holster for it, especially in lefty.
Can't comment on the others. -

Inforce APL is kind of a nice middle ground size wise if it will fit. Just make sure it has the latest generation rail mount.sigpicComment

+1. Just like you can find the X300U for a little over $200 despite the MSRP, the XC1 is going to come down in price if you keep an eye out for deals at SKD, Primary Arms, etc.Originally posted by HopetonBrownYou can get an XC1 for $216 delivered from Optics Planet. When you consider that it is a piece of life saving equipment the price becomes easier to swallow.sigpicComment

Don't have one yet, so I can't say for certain. But the real problem with the XC1 is that it doesnt fit the M&P9c (OP's gun) nor the HK45c (was really hoping it would). So I'm guessing it is a super low profile light that only fits guns with a rail slot as far forward as a G19, which means it won't fit any of the compact guns with shorter rails. Sucks.Originally posted by HopetonBrownYou can get an XC1 for $216 delivered from Optics Planet. I was really interested in getting one for my HK45c, so I've been googling terms like xc1, fits, does it fit, doesn't fit. Obviously not as good as trying it myself, but here's what I've found:Originally posted by HopetonBrownHow do you know it won't fit?
I recently joined the CCP Owner club and I thought I'd give the Surefire XC1 a try. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit, I'm sure it would fit fine if the trigger guard was smaller but I just wanted to share this here, and for anyone that googles it. It's going to find a new home on my FNX-9 for now...
My XC1 just came in the mail, and I can confirm that it fits on the VP9. Unfortunately, it does not work with the 45C. The locking bar sits way too far forward of the rail sections for it to work. I would go as far to say that it is impossible to make this combination work. I have attached a...

I assume based on the mounting bar, but is this confirmed?

I read an article stating it was confirmed.
Sep 18Compact light doesn't fit on sub-compact gun
by Richard, from United States, AZ Written on November 10, 2015
I like the light and I really like Optics Planet but this light just doesn't fit on my XDs or my XD Subcompact Mod.2. The light is too long between the controls and the mounting bracket to fit on a gun with less than about 4" barrel. On the XDs .45 and XD Subcompact Mod.2 .45, both with 3.3" barrels, the light makes contact with the trigger guard long before the non-adjustable mounting lug ever makes contact with the rail.
I like the momentary-on controls. They're easy to use. The constant-on cross-bar is difficult to use and appears to be included solely to advertise constant-on functionality. Current trend is momentary-on and used this way the light is awesome.
I would recommend this light for use on a full-size gun. I have full-size guns but they all have lights (either TLR-1s or Ultra-300) and holsters and I just don't want to purchase more stuff....Comment

It was designed for the Glock 19 only from what I gatherOriginally posted by HopetonBrownHow do you know it won't fit?Comment

True, however the distance from the slot on the Glock rail to trigger guard will need to be replicated on other brands as well.Originally posted by HopetonBrownWell I wouldn't say "only", I'm sure it fits on scores of other guns. When people say it doesn't fit, some might be meaning it protrudes past the muzzle. In which case it does fit.
Also from my casual observation the rail that the XC1 uses looks like it will not slide over a picatinny rail.Comment
