building a 1911 Gi rep

I would like to build a 1911. Something with fixed sites, standard barrel length, blued finish, wood grip, and standard hammer and trigger. I wanted to buy one but it seems they are all over the top. As a history lover Id love to have something like this. Beauty in simplicity. If you know a place that sells a gun like this that's even better. Or the best place to get parts. Thanks.

If you have one built the parts alone will be more than a GI springfield or an RIA. The labor will likely triple the cost of a GI springer. If you are looking for a rack grade gun, buy what is available, if you want a retro gun built to your specs you will have to likely buy a GI and pay for the work in addition. PM me if that is your route but be ready to spend some money......refitting the frame and slide fit, barrel fit, trigger job, reliability job, etc, etc

I have a RIA and it works well. They are supposed to be even better now. I don't like the fact that my slide says RIA with the logo like a billboard.

The latest Auto Ordnance 1911 GI is very close, but it has a series 80 safety.

New ones have small logo on the back of the slide, no more billboards.
