Sig P239 vs P226

I have a P226 which I love and shoot very well. I wanted to carry it but it's just too big. Prints like you wouldn't believe, at least for me.

Am looking at a P239 which will carry much better due to it's size and being a single stack.

What I really want to know is if anyone here has both and can compare how they shoot.

I don't mind the P239 being fairly heavy as a carry gun. Just want to know that it has the same accuracy and recoil characteristics of the P226 or close to it. Something about Sigs, I just shoot them better.

Have an M&P Shield which is a great carry gun also but just doesn't give me that feeling I get when I shoot my P226. Wondering if the P239 will do that in a more concealable package. Thanks.

Have you handled a 239? I have both, for me the 239 just never felt right compared to the 226. It's just too thin for me, and just didn't point right. It shot fine recoil wasn't that different. I'd try to find either a P6 or a 225 if I was looking now, and pass up on the 239, the size difference isn't that much between them.

Great thanks. That's the feedback I was looking for. That's the problem, no one, including gun stores around here have P239s.

Have a P239 in .40/.357, it's a great CCW gun, conceals well especially in an ankle holster. It does not have the accuracy of a 226, it is great as a back up gun and a close quarters defense gun, like a walther ppk.

i got both. the p239 is on my ccw the p226 is not.

the p239 for me is borderline ccwable in the summer. i really have to wear looser tshirts and wider jeans, but i carry my p239 everyday so i have gotten use to it. its not a small gun but its the biggest gun i can conceal and shoot accurately with. enough to wager my life w/ it

if you have your ccw and youre in orange county, you're more than welcome to meet me at the range and try on my holster and/or shoot my p239 (9mm).

If you like Sig and wants to CC Sig firearm... maybe look into P938 9mm..
You are right about P226 being bulky and big to CC. I honestly think p226 is more like duty carry weapon than CC.

p938 is fine gun, but little $$$..

Have a Shield already and I have to admit, it's just about the perfect carry gun. I was hoping to replicate the non-recoil, smooth shooting of my P226. Maybe I should just be happy with what I have [emoji6]

Consider the 229. It's between 226 & 239. I don't have a 226 but I have the 239 & 229. 229 carries very easily with minimal cover garments during cooler months.

I regret selling my P239. I was as equally accurate with the 239 as I am with a 226.

The difference in recoil was negligible. The 239 isn't exactly a small gun that is easily manipulated by recoil.

Lastly, IIRC the 239 does not have the ugly CA features like the rest of the Sigs.

OP also consider the 2022 as a carry gun. it weighs less than the 226/229 and has the same capacity.

I had both. 226 was like an extension of my hand, hitting anything I point at. Couldn't shoot consistent with the 239 at all. My wife had the same problem, deadly accurate with the 226, can't hit the side of a barn with the 239 sometimes. Sold the 239 after a while, still have the 226 and will never sell that.

For me, my 226 (W. German) is a classic, quintessential 9mm pistol. Where as the 239 just felt dated and old.
