trigger return on H&R 922 revolver

I have a H&R 922 revolver in .22LR that is no longer working. its a double action gun but when the trigger is pulled in double action the trigger does not return to double action mode. it does the same thing when fired from single action. the trigger stays to the rear and will not return forward. I have to manually grab the sides of the trigger and pull it forward.

Any body have any ideas why it would be doing this or how to fix it? thanks.

I have never looked at the inards of an H&R revolver but my guess is your trigger return spring is broken.

You can find a new one here

Yes, The NRA Illustrated Firearms Assembly Handbook volume 1 page 26 has a disassembly proceedure and parts breakdown drawing -- Trigger return is a simple coil spring -- Replacement appears to be simple enough but you will probably need to make a "slave" pin -----

It's also possible the spring is all gummed up and needs a good cleaning and lube. Either way, disassembly will let you figure it out.

The NRA firearms disassembly combined volumes (rifles, shotguns, pistols, and revolvers all in one) has it on P372. This is a great resource for people who dabble in obscure old guns.
