Looking for a small 9mm. Shield, CM9, or other?

Hi, just wondering what you guys prefer between the shield and CM9. I haven't shot either, but both feel somewhat comfortable in my hands. Any other opinions are welcome as well, just please keep it to 9mm and small. I tried to Google this inquiry but surprisingly I didn't find a thread. Thanks in advance!

I own a Kahr CW9 that I carry with me when I'm in my home state. I carry it in a crossbreed super tuck and I find it very comfortable. The gun shoots very well too. I had a couple light primer strikes during the first 50 rounds but they do say the gun has a break in period. 600 rounds later I have zero malfunctions.

For me it would come down to the trigger pull. The Kahr is known for long deliberate trigger pulls, by design.

Ether one would work in my world.

I have a CM9 and it's a great carry pistol. I put it in a pocket holster and it slips right into my pocket; it's great for summer carry when I'm wearing shorts. The problem is that they are off roster; I got mine from a LEO who got tired of it. The PM9 is on the roster but is much more expensive. The CW9 is (I believe) on roster but is just a little bit bigger and not as conducive to pocket carry. If I'm going to carry IWB, I have a Glock 23 for that.

Check Larry Vickers review on M&P shield & glock 43, maybe that could help you in the decision making.

The one where he says most people are better off with a Glock 19

I'd highly reccomend the cw9. It's very light, very thin, and also surprisingly accurate. I really enjoy mine. I've heard many stories about Kahr reliability but definately haven't experienced any. My cw9 has close to 1k round without a single issue even in the break in period.

Never shot the cw9 but I do own a shield and love it. Doubt you would be dissapointed with either.

I have heard the car 9 does require an extensive break in..by a few people. The shield is 8+1 and when I use it I forget at times it's there

Shot shield before and for sure shield have better trigger than Kahr. However, I prefer my Glock 43 than shield. That's just me thou.

Kahr looks thicker to me- If you plan on carrying, I would go with the shield. I haven't had any hiccups with mine- though mine did come with a crappy stock trigger. That Apex is pretty nice on it though...

Ton of shields to be had on the used market, just be careful of getting sucked into the "off-roster" hype- the weapon is no better, and I had one guy try to sell a used one to me for $800!!!! You can get a good used CA one for like $4xx or less if you are patient.

Shield is a great gun, I know many people who own them and love them. they are reliable and concealable.

Both about the same size. I have both Cm9 and shield 9mm. Kahr seems better built in some areas. Barrel is nicer, high polished ramp, about inch longer than the shield.
Size is about the same, give or take 1/4 inch. I like the feel of the kahr, but the shield shoots better, and i prefer the trigger as i like a reset. I also like to know when the gun is going to fire. The kahr does have a smoother trigger but it lllloooonnnnggggg trigger pull does bother me a bit. Overall? I like the shield, but the mrs and daughter like the kahr. Go figure.

Whichever feels better in your hand. For me it's the kahr any day. Don't what it is but the shield feels like crap in my hand. Idk if it makes my fingers bend in a weird spot or what, but every time I hold one at a gun shop I just can't get excited about it. Cool guns, but they aren't for me. YMMV

The long trigger on the kahrs is nothing to be afraid of, they are very nice triggers- long but silky smooth. Within 100 rounds you'll be a pro.

And I have 3 kahrs and have several thousand rounds down range between them, never a single failure of any kind. Idk if I've just been lucky but no break in reqd
