What mag capacity is a 9mm 1911? I would assume they can do 10 rounds..

48 rounds to the back wall at OC Indoor, patterning was two to the chest, one to the head, so POI was constantly changing.

      Ya... RIA does just fine.

Chip and Wilson make some 10s, but I've always heard that reliability is spotty on anything over 8.

That's not a bad idea. But the only places I can take advantage of a black Friday deal will be at an LGS that allows layaway so I can hold off on starting DROS right away. As far as I know RCGE is the only one in my area.

Get the Tactical or any model that has the extended beavertail (and typically a rounded hammer spur goes with it).
It is a must have item to avoid hammer bite.

Just put the tactical 5" in jail yesterday. RKguns.com had them on sale for $380 delivered 2 weeks ago. The new production comes with wood and plastic grips. Can't wait to break it out of jail.

Standard capacity on the 9mm full size is 9 rounds. The mag that came with the wife's gun wouldn't lock the slide back. I've picked up 6 or so Mec Gar mags and they've run fine.

I understand the advantages the Tactical model offers, but have always been attracted to the classic GI look. I found the GI model to be accurate enough with regular sights, and hammer bite is not an issue for me, so it worked fine.

Either way - can no go wrong with Rock.

This! Well worth the extra $100 for the beavertail and the sights.

One thing about the RIA; I believe it has a cast frame. That is not big deal unless you plan to throw a bunch of money at it to customize it a lot. If you were to do that forged frames are a better option.

A seriouse warning about buying your first 1911; They tend to multiply as if by magic. Seems like everytime I have a few bucks saved up it magicaly disapears from my bank and reapears in my gun safe as a new 1911! I keep telling my wife wife that I have no idea how it happens.

For sure get some wilson, tripp or chip mags. The factory RIA mags suck.

I like 7 round mags, I seem to never have a problem with them

I went down and took a look at them today. On advice of others I'm holding out until Black Friday sales just to be sure I don't miss a deal. Can't wait to get the ball rolling. Definitely going for the tactical.
