I'm cracking up at some of the people listing pistols like XD9's and Glock 19s as underrated and overlooked. The thread wasn't titled "What's your favorite popular pistol?"

My vote: G29. We hear about it on Calguns a fair amount (probably mostly Oceanbob's and my fault), but outside of Calguns, hardly anyone has even heard of it, much less seen it. Most stores don't carry it. In my mind, it's a perfect balance of power, capacity, size, weight, and reliability.

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Ruger P90. Agreed. I would extend this to the full metal 'P' series P85/89...
            Beretta PX4. Agreed.
            S&W model 10 or pre-10. Agreed.

It is really hard to tell folks how inexpensive and reliable the's guns are.

Overlooked and underrated (Glock, CZ, Beretta, and Sigs are neither overlooked or underrated imho)

For me it would be SA XD series, Star series, tanfoglio's sub >$1k, and FN/browning.

But realistically springfield XD series actually shoot pretty easily in almost all three major calibers. But it's just an ugly look for me. I felt like SA was doing too much in the cool looks factor.

A good Henry lever-action or pump-action .22LR rifle. In good hands, it can do a lot of things well.

A friend's Great Uncle lived in tens of acres of land up in the rural mountain area. He only had a lever-action .22LR rifle for his whole life, and he said that'd done him just fine.
