    629 Trail Boss

    Has anybody seen a S&W 629 Trail Boss recently? I saw one at Antioch Armory about a 1.5 years ago and wish I had bought it now. Anyone know where I can get one?

    BTW, thanks for all your answers to my last post guys. I talked to a dealer over the weekend who thinks he might have a 4" 29 coming in on consignment within the next month.

      Hi Kev, this gun is still on the CA list. Have tried getting your local dealer to order you a new one?

          Assuming your 'Trail Boss' is
          <UL TYPE=SQUARE>
          <LI> S&W 629
          <LI> 3" barrel + full lug
          <LI> unfluted cylinder
          <LI> black Hogue grips[/list]

          I believe - at least as of 1+ month ago - there were 2 at Target Masters in Milpitas. One may or may not have had a lanyard stud at grip base.

          Price tag said something around $720ish. There may have been a 3" 629 with a regular fluted cylinder there also.

          Nice gun, but you'll want to use rounds with a tad faster burning powder otherwise you'll have a lot of muzzle flash.

          I'd think this gun would be better shooting hotter 44Spl loads.

              I think I saw a 3" 629 at Marin Firearms in Novato recently... may have been the Trail Boss.

                  Actually I mean one of these:



                  3" Barrel with Mag-na-Port and fluted cylinder. There is also a version with no ports and an unfluted cylinder. I prefer the first.

                          I was in Target Masters a couple weeks ago and I saw two 3" 629s. I am sure one was unfluted, and I think the other was fluted. I didn't look closely at them, so I couldn't tell you if the fluted one was also Mag-na-ported.

                          Long story short: I believe Target Masters does in fact have a Trail Boss in stock.
