    Wilson CQB Ca overview

Here is an overview of the Wilson CQB Ca version that I recently acquired.

The pistol is about a 95-98% gun based on finish and wear and it has likely only seen a couple hundred rounds total since it was made in 2006. Per my call to Wilson about the gun, they stated that they build them exactly the same today for CA as the guns were built in 2006, no changes. The only cast parts in the gun are the slide stop, grip safety, mag release, and "possibly" the thumb safety. Based on the price I got the gun for, I am not concerned. The gun has never been returned for any warranty work per Wilson and was built in Feb 2006.

Slide and frame fit are at least as tight and as smooth as the new 9mm CQB I have written about on here previously, I might give a very slight edge in smooth slide operation to the .45 CQB I just got. It is REALLLY smooth. The original shokbuf was still in the gun and barely had a line in it from firing impact, those of you who use shok bufs know how fast they show signs of use. The finish is still almost 100% on the rails, underside of the slide, hammer face, and magwell. This further indicates very little use.

When you run the slide slowly to the rear and slowly forward again, movement is smooth and there is no stalling over the head of the disconnector...It is almost like it isnt there. The disconnector head is highly polished and beveled as well as beveled on the breech end of the raceway. Extractor tension is perfect and the slide stop and thumb safety are appropriately notched for very clean and positive function.

The palm safety is sensitive, depression about 1/3rd will allow ignition and the mag release is very clean and positive as well, press it and out comes the magazine...no dragging or grit in the release.

The trigger on this gun is remarkable, 3.5lbs every time per my trigger pull gauge and it runs very smooth in the trigger track. Bushing is easy to remove with no tools yet has no movement between the bushing and slide, or bushing and barrel. All in all the gun is a wonderful example of the stuff Wilson has been putting out for a long time AND it shoots like a raped ape. This blaster is a lot of fun and certainly a quality pistol.

They really are sweet guns, I have a non-California CQB and really enjoy it. I actually like the green/black guns, although mine is FDE/black. The few differences between a CA CQB and a regular CQB are too minor to make a difference they all are truely great 1911s.

Nice looking CQB, do you plan on getting anything done with it or leave it stock. I thought I read you were thinking about refinishing it. If it were mine all I'd do is have Wilson new blended MSH and magwell installed along with Wilson's new battle sights and she'd be just about perfect for me.

I will probably add a magwell, I'm ambidextrous safety, and some battle sites along with an all black refinish, maybe reverse crown the barrel
