What do you guys think about Taurus .357 revolvers? I'm looking at the Taurus model 608 6" for target shooting.

Taurus revolvers are pretty good for their price. I picked up a model 85 for home defense since my mom can't action back the slide on my autos she pushed me to get a snub nose revolver like we had in the past. I don't believe the 608 is on the roster. Your best bet for a 6" barreled .357 is the model 66. There's also the 4" 627 which has a compensator that's also on the roster. If I were to choose I'd pick up the 627, I've only heard good things about it. -
I had a 627 tracker and l loved it. Sold it because I thought needed the money but after I made the deal with a member here I figured out that I did not need to sell it after all. A deal is a deal so I sold it but I sure do miss it. I put some work into the trigger and it was very smooth and very accurate (used it in matches too). I have decided to buy another one some time next year."Calling an illegal alien a "undocumented worker" is like calling the drug dealer hanging around outside your kid's school an "unlicensed pharmacist."Comment

I've shot one, my mom still has it. She carried it in the Police Reserve years ago. It always went "bang" when the trigger was pulled, and accuracy seemed ok, though we never shot it at longer ranges, it being a police-lenght gun and all... I think it was a Model 66 with adjustable rear sight, 6 round capacity.Originally posted by sned45What do you guys think about Taurus .357 revolvers? Quality and finish are really good on it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Taurus. It was (still is) a very nice pistol.sigpicNRA MemberOriginally posted by Deadbolt"We're here to take your land for your safety"

The small framed Taurus revolvers aren't so bad. Every now and then you'll hear something bad about them but hey, even bigger name gun companies have been known to make mistakes too. I don't know how their large frame revolvers are but everyone on this board seems to give them the thumbs up. As far as rugers go, I don't need to tell bill ruger where he needs to stick them.Comment

I have not shot a Ruger single action, but if it is anything like that Super redhawk piece of crap I bought, and had to get fixed so that it would work properly out of the box, then I would have to agree Ruger revolvers are garbage. I had to pay out of my own pocket to ship that hunk of crap back to get it operating properly and they would not even respond to my requests for reimbursementto cover the cost of shipping. Their customer service sucks. So do most of their firearms.Originally posted by asintadoThe small framed Taurus revolvers aren't so bad. I have 3 Taurus revolvers. 2 Raging Bulls in .454 Casull and a M66 7 shot 357. I have never had a problem with any of them. The trigger pull is fantastic (lighter than current production S&Ws in my experience of constantly dry-firing in the slow times when I used work at Turners.

i own 3 taurus guns 2 revolvers and one semi-auto
the 627 tracker is a great shootin gun 357 mag loads and hardly feel any recoil but loud as hell it has the ported muzzel very accurate too
the 45 colt single action is great very fast great for cowboy action i like better than the rugers, the ruger triggers suck
the pt140 good gun i don't like it as much probolly cause i am a wheel gun fan the gun shoots good it took me a wile to get used to the sights but a small compact gun isn't really for plinkin but over 2000 rounds and no jams will i was shootin. a wile back i took a girl shootin for the first time and let her shoot it and it kept jammin on her so i thought there was something wrong with the gun not knowing much about it i called the taurus and they told me that if you limpwrist the gun it will not feed cause it loads on recoil07 FFL Woodland, CA

I have the 608 with a 4inch barrel, it has alway shot great for me even tho the trigger feels kind of hard. I was able to get it 2001 through private party transfer. Its not on the list. Taurus revolvers are good and reliable atleast on my experience. My next purchase should be a 44mag tracker ss.Comment

Pretty much all semis will misfeed if you limpwrist badly enough (as long as they've got enough recoil).Originally posted by redneckshootisti own 3 taurus guns 2 revolvers and one semi-auto

IMO: Revolvers are perfect for first-timers, especially girls. Just load .38 into that .357.
