    Rock Island .45 on sale

Is the RI 1911 reasonably reliable? I see they're on sale here locally for just over 400, seems cheap for a 1911.. too cheap?

$400 is probably the GI model. Spend the few extra $ on the Tactical model. The upgrades are well worth the minor price increase. You will not regret it.

Yes, RIA makes a great gun. Probably the best value in 1911's.

Mine has been rock solid. 500 + rounds thru it not a single glitch of any kind and accurate enough for me. The finish isn't the best appearance wise but would buy another one in a heartbeat if I could find one in 38 super.

Most calgun members will tell you:
            Good starting 1911
Affordable and goes bang all the time
Spend little more and get the tactical RIA version instead
            Good learning 1911 pistol

I know this is going to be hard to believe but i finally had a glitch with my RIA tac 5 after maybe 350 rounds. I have been shooting whatever is on sale. Brass, steel, Aluminum, cheap reloads, buddies hand load, you name it. I had one last round fire but on the last round the bolt stayed back as it is supposed to do and the spent cartridge just sat extracted but not ejected. I just turned the pistol upside down and it fell out.?. it never did it again after that. Their goes my perfect score.

I had one get stuck in the Chip McCormick extra mag I bought, last round. Kind of ticked me off because it was running so good.

I decided to buy 4 more mags and a SA Mil Spec to go with it

Good luck OP, I like the GI I picked up a few weeks ago. It was just under 500.00 OTD at Turners
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Loved my RIA in .45. Now looking for a similarly good deal on 38 Super, will buy without hesitation.
