    M&P Availability in Orange County?

I have been in the market for either a M&P9 or a Glock 19 for about a year now. I've held both, shot both and both are fantastic firearms. I recently started looking again and stumbled upon the recent changes to the CA roster and was .. shocked to find out that basically only Glock (maybe a few others) have re-upped through 1/1/2017.

So now I'm kind of scrambling to locate and find a M&P9. I have to admit however, I haven't been out to stores just yet. Just checking whatever online availability I can see until I can get my boots on the ground.

My plan is go head out this weekend and seek one out. I figured maybe I'd ask here if anyone knows if the well has dried up or if there are some still out in the wild? Or am I misunderstanding the entire roster issue altogether?

    Thanks

You will only find Glock generation 3 pistols at the stores.

M&P is already off the roster. Only way to buy one is find a used one on the marketplace and do a Private Party Transfer or if you have immediate family outside of california that can gift you a pistol (Mom, Dad, Son, Daughter).

        Thanks, I'll check the marketplace.

Another question about out of state family. My father in law is a CA resident, but has homes and residency in both WA and AZ. Can he purchase said firearm in those states, and do a private party sale to me in CA?

        Thanks

Straw purchase is illegal. But if he wanted to try the gun and didn't like and want to get rid of it then it may be a valid PPT.

Thank you, I'll read into the laws a bit better. Had no plans of doing such, but was curious for longer term type purchases.

Yeah... A lot changes in a year. Could have gotten basically anything you wanted via SSE a year ago... Glock Gen4's, M&P's, or __________ (you fill in the blank).
You can thank your representative in Sacramento for ending that: http://www.guns.com/2014/12/31/new-c...s-into-effect/

                    Thank you, Sir.

And OP, you'll find what you want, it's just going to take a bit more legwork and $$$ now... But personally, I'd have to agree with you: M&P

The only M&P left is the CA compliant Shield.

I bought my FS and Compact back when they were on roster. There are afew in the marketplace. You'll need to find one close enough to PPT and be prepared to pay the "premium".

Unfortunately not.... The Grey (+ the G43 and FDE G42) were released after Sacramento shut the SSE party down because we were having too much fun.

Yes, but think of all the children it saved from the criminals and mass murderers who paid extra and went through all the legal hoops to register an off-roster gun.
