Whats better of the usp and p2000. lookin for a .40 cal

Really depends. Both share the same magazine for the USPc versions. The P2000 is more of a compact than a fullsize. USP will have a longer sight radius, and ability for condition 1 carry as well as DA/SA.

P2000 has a smoother trigger (though both triggers suck in their stock form), more ergonomic, no lever to get in the way, changeable backstrap and more svelt feeling.

Lastly, I find the USP to have an unusually high bore axis. Feels odd to point when you're used to guns with lower bore axis.

Then again, I own both and neither ever really make it out to the range.

Full size usp, compact, p2000, p2ks.......

p-series have the interchangable backstrap, but don't have external safety levers (except v3 which has a decocker in the back of the frame/slide area), and ambi slide-releases.

I can't complain about any of HK pistols other then being overpriced. But I got my two for a good price. And then stupid me sold my p2k......

I have the USP full size and USPc in a 9mm. The USPc is pretty similar to the HK2000 in size. If I could CCW in this state, I would go with USPc or HK2000. I chose the USPc because I didnt care much for the position of the decocking lever on the HK2000. The adjustable straps on the HK2000 is very big selling point. The cheese grater feel on the USP can be annoying for some.

At the range, the USP full size wins each time for me. The longer site radius, and the recoil dampening, allows me to group very tightly with the USP. The USP compact snaps almost like a 0.40 when I am shooting 9's. Don't know if the same holds true if you are comparing the USP and HK2000 in the 0.40;but I would suspect it would.

Not sure about the +p+, but since you are looking for a future ccw, I would choose the HK2000 or USPc easily over the full size USP. The full size USP is bulky, and would show easily unless you are a big guy.

My USPc snaps harder than the USP but for a CCW, it is more than accurate enough. Forgot to mention, with the HK2000, you will lose the ability to go cocked and locked, but I believe you do gain the ambidextrous slide release. It may come down to whether you are ok with the cheese grater of the USPc or the adjustable straps of the HK2000.

i own both as well, my usp is more broken in then my p2k. triggers are also different, usp is DA/SA and the p2k is LEM. i like the idea of the fulsize hammer on the usp but wanted to try something different and went DAO on the p2k. love em both, their HK's!!!

Yes the USP has a fully supported chamber and can handle the +P+ loads.

IIRC, 40S&W is already loaded to high pressures, so no +p or +p+ ammo. Please correct me if I'm wrong (I'm a 9mm and 45 ACP guy, don't know much about 40's).

Yes, they make +P rated 40S&W ammo. I've never seen it as a head stamp though.
Look into buffalo bore and corbon. Both +P rated loads.

I own the USP40c and several full size guns in several chamberings. I have shot the P2000 and it just didn't do it for me. I do like the idea of the interchangeable backstraps, normal accessory rail, etc... But the USP series just felt better to me and I was able to shoot it better.

I would have to recomend finding a range that rents guns or a someone here that can let you shoot theirs.

I have the USPc 9 and the P2000 9. The P2K feels much better in the hand, and I shoot it much better as well.

I have not tried a USP compact but I love my former P2000. I gave it to my Sister because she moved into a bad neighborhood. Damn i miss that gun. I vote for a P2000 V3.
