hammerless snub nose

I am about to buy a hammerless snub nose. Do you have one, do you like it do you carry it? What do you recommend?

I use the Charter 44. You can buy a "concealment" hammer for it and it's easy to switch. It's available in .357 with the double action hammer also.

I carry a S&W model 442 everyday. Either in a Mika pocket holster or a Sideguard IWB. Comfortable to carry in either mode. Does take a bit of regular practice to be proficient at ranges past 7-10 yards, at least for me.

I have a SP 101 that I had "bobbed." It carries easy in an IWB holster.

You might consider Smith & Wesson's "Bodyguard" series, 649, 638. The former is a stainless steel .357 Magnum and the latter an alloy "Airweight" .38spl. Both have shrouded hammers that allow single action shooting when needed.
The Smith & Wesson 442,642, and 40 Classic are very good too, just double action only.
I can't recommend the Charter or the Ruger myself. To me the triggers on either of them are awful.

I don't own a snub nose yet, but I was at the local gun shop last week looking at the S&W Airweight (.38 sp) and it's very compact. We put it on the scale...15 ounces..
I think it's the lightest snubbie in the market.

I vote for a new S&W 642 Airweight, you can now get them without an internal lock. They are excellent guns, here is mine after a little work I had done on it:

I like my Taurus 85 5-shot .38 - reliable & inexpensive. Not big on holsters and the Taurus is easily carried in short's pockets or pocket of a light jacket without any inconvenience or "printing" at all. It can slip into a gym bag or backpack even easier.

Ruger SP101 comes with a bobbed hammer, if you chose that model.

S&W 340PD if you feel the need for a super small super light 357mag.

Yeah, it's actually pretty cool, just a flash of V-6 fire, as there are 3 other holes on the other side. I would think it would be even more impressive to a BG on the other end of the barrel.

I took my 642 with me when I had my recent firearms lesson, and Larry said, Don't practice with that. Get another revolver for target shooting. Then he showed me how close I have to be to fire it. Eek!

Thanks, the combo of the porting and grips makes it MUCH more comfortable to shoot, so easier to shoot that many more practice rounds. I disagree with your instructor, you should practice with what you are going to use/carry, and like anything else practice helps make perfect.
