Stainless Rail 1911, Kimber or Sig?

    Hey guys,
I am recently very fond of the 1911 series, and thinking of finding a gun on the roster with those specs:
    • Stainless (already have CZ75SP01 as dark/black one, want a different color gun)
    • Rail, so can mount light/laser/ (or even zombie bayonet :P)
    • full size with .45 acp (not interested in compact since I can't CCW)
    • night sights
    • front checkering, beaver tail,
    • no full length guide rod (so won't have a springfield, though they has so good QC & CS)
    • no internal lock (so, no springfield)

I have narrowed down to Sig Saur Stainless 1911 with Rail, and Kimber Stainless Custom TLE/RL II.
I know Kimber has QC/SC problems, and Sig seems also experienced some QC problems years ago. Personally I like the look of Kimber (with Skeleton Trigger) a bit more, but think Sig might be of better bang of the bucks (I don't hate external extractors)
How do you guys think about these two 1911's? Is Kimber QC/SC still so horrible these days? Thank you~

I haven't shot the Kimber, but I own the sig 1911 ss rail. The trigger right out of the box is precise (without any creep) and short length of pull. It also has a short crisp reset that I like.

I have the SS TLE/RL II and love it. It eats everything I throw into it and just keeps spitting them out. So far every factory ammo (FMJ & HP), factory reloads, My reloads. You name it is the energizer bunny. It's in the bedside safe, use it for competition every once in a while. So yea mine is a great pistol.

I also have a Sig nightmare carry (obviously not railed or SS) and I love shooting that almost as much as the Kimber. It was a little more picky about my reloads but I changed by crimp and it now functions with out a hiccup. Great trigger and reset, comfortable in my hand and can't say enough about it. I used it at a class and the instructer was a SIG lover and was even more impressed I was running the 1911.

For range, hd and Comps I'd probably say get the Kimber.

I will say when I do get to carry (Utah ccw) I rotate between my Dan Wesson Guardian and the Sig.

Kimber's TLE line is pretty good for their price.

            +1 on that.
I acquired the Sig this year and it put aside my other 1911s as my favorite.

I just remembered couple of idiosyncrasies with the Sig. The checkering on the grip is very aggressive when I just pick it up and fondle it. But when I'm actually shooting it, I don't notice it at all. Also it has a lanyard loop on the bottom of the grip near the magwell. The checkering near that loop is jagged. I simply smoothed it out with sandpaper and it's comfortable now.

my next purchase will be a sig- maybe a couple. I'm sure the kimbers are fine.

Sig or Springfield over Kimber, only reason to get a Kimber would be if you had to have one in 10mm.

Sig, do they offer life time warranty as well?

If not a springfield, then a Kimber
