Best of both at a reasonable engineering effort are P1, Broomhandle and Luger. Straight recoil without being blowback. They just don't come with double stack magazines :-(.

Just for clarity's sake, let my correct a couple of things here.

The barrel isn't locked. It is fixed to the frame...it is pressed in with a hydraulic press.

The opening of the slide is delayed by gas filling the gas cylinder and keeping the slide closed until the bullet had left the barrel.

While gas was channeled into the cylinder was a bit dirty...less than an AR...it did not affect function. The P7 was tested for several thousand rounds and continued to function even after the extractor broke. Cleaning the cylinder was just a matter of running a brush or scraper through the cylinder

The P7 has outstanding accuracy and was the safest striker fired pistol produced

You'll find your double stack Walther is currently being made by Beretta and Taurus in their 92 /96 series with the same swinging locking block breech design.
