Anyone seen a Ruger .45ACP/.45Colt Redhawk 05032 in the wild?

I know this only made the roster about 5 weeks ago. Anyone seen one yet? Curious where the street price will wind up. Really hoping to get to handle one.

There's one on GB with an asking price of $1,500.00. At that price I'll wait a while, seems to me these should end up around $850.00 new. Ruger MSRP is about $1K.

I'm always amazed how ugly most Ruger revolvers are. IMHO
sigpicDon't ask how many guns I own, I lost count.

MSRP $1029 None available on Davidson's Gallery of Guns but you can sign up for notification next time they get some. Couple of months maybe, no longer than a year for pretty sure.

Now how does it work getting on the Roster? Thought you had to microstamp to get a new gun on the list.

Found it. Microstamping doesn't apply to revolvers because (duhh) revolvers don't auto eject brass. Unusually reasonable for CA gun law.

Bought the Redhawk .45 Colt Stainless Steel just a few months ago. #5027 MODEL KRH-45-4 $875 Out The Door. It's a thing of beauty and wonder. I was shocked by how smooth and even the trigger pull is. I was on the Gallery of Gun notification list for maybe 4 months before they got some in.

With the possible exception of the gp100, their revolvers look dated and awkward.

I own several Ruger Vaqueros, a 1022 and a MkII, but their revolvers leave me cold.

I dunno, I think my .454 Super Alaskan looks pretty good, although I am a Smith and Colt man at heart.

There was some discussion on rugerforum.com that convinced me I didn't want one. IIRC, big jump to throat for 45 auto degrades accuracy, takes only Ruger clips, and partially unsupported case with 45 auto. I ended up going with Ruger Bisley convertible and separate cylinders for 45 auto and 45 Colt. YMMV

The grip on that .45 looks out of proportion to me. I've very happy with my Redhawk and two Blackhawks though, one a Bisley.

On the Gunblast review, he makes the comment that the smaller grip makes it easier to carry, but if he was going to shoot a steady diet of full-bore .45 +P, he go with the bigger Pachmayer grip. The comment about easier to carry makes sense to me.

The 45 ACP jump concerns me also. I noticed in a few gun mag articles there was no mention of 45 ACP accuracy, which is something I was hoping to learn. Although accuracy in this should be no less degraded by jump than out of a dual cylindered Blackhawk - jump is jump, yes? The unsupported case doesn't bother me, although having a boatload of 45 Auto Rim I'd wonder if those can be used.

So far as looks go, I was never really a Ruger fan but Colt no longer makes revolvers and Smith & Wesson's lock, MIM and spray paint finishes don't interest me. I'll buy an old Colt or Smith all the time, but Ruger nowadats seems like the most straightforward made new revolver out there.

Review says 45AR ammo will not work, http://gunblast.com/Ruger-RH45ACP.htm
                      Here's an interesting thread http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/vie...p?f=3&t=229142
And this review says accuracy with either cartridge is the same http://www.handgunsmag.com/reviews/r...volver-review/

I was wondering about half and full moon clips. Ruger only? Oh well.

Probably not a deal breaker, but Ruger only and $5/ea. http://shopruger.com/Redhawk-45-Auto...uctinfo/90483/

Makes since, since a Redhawk cylinder is probably way larger than an old M1917 or Smith 625. Old moon clips wouldn't line up right, probably.

By the way, I totally want one of these. 45 Long Colt is my FAVORITE handgun cartridge. Being able to shoot 45ACP too is even better. PM sent to Baboosh.
