The guy who made the suggestion about the bigger cleaner holes was making things up. Unless its a JHP the round isnt going to expand on its ownComment

Wadcutters are used in competition because they "cut" the paper, making clean holes the same diameter as the bullet. Round nose bullets create jagged holes, the edges of which are not as clearly defined. This provides for a more accurate score on paper when using wadcutters, or bullets with a flat meplat.

Proof?, Im almost absolutely sure it was the s&w 4006, at least that is what s&w says. Would be nice to see something else though.Originally posted by bohokioh man i think i threw up in my mouth a littleOriginally posted by Soldier415My staff is now at 10 beers, and has a tactical red lgt ont it, and is being ttached to me by a single point sling

Stopping power is a realtive term. If you use Marshall and Sanow's method then the 45ACP is the king. You have to understand that their data is based upon real world shootings that they put together in their own little study. Their book is an interesting read, but I think we can all agree that there is a lot left to be desired in their research.
The effectiveness of any round is based upon the projectile it fires. The projectile type, structure and velocity it is launched at effects its downrange performance. If you are talking about comparing the same projectile type in different diameters, the larger the diameter will usually be more effective.
If you are comparing larger ball ammo to smaller caliber wide mouth hollow points, the effectivness can be much closer.
With today's modern technology used in manufacturing specialty ammunition I feel VERY comfortable carrying a 9mm loaded with say Corbon Powerball ammo or Federal full metal jacket expaning HP's. If we are talking about "older" type HP's like hydroschocks, golden sabers, black tallon, etc... Give me a bigger diameter big hollow point projectile going at hotter than average speeds.Murphy's Law - What can happen will happen at the least opportune momentComment
