I started shooting uspsa at the start of this year with a glock 34. I'm currently a B class shooter but I'm working hard on making A by the end of the year. A few months ago I got sucked into the metal vs plastic debate and decided to try out a cz. I have a cz 75 but wanted to use an sp01. I picked up a shadow target, shot it for three months and recently decided to go back to my glock.
On the cz I polished the internals, installed a short reset disconnected, put on a thinner from sight and swapped out the some springs. I got the trigger just under six pounds for the double action and 3lbs 4oz for the single action. The cz trigger feels great, and it only took a few days of dry fire before I was comfortable taking a 25 yard double action first shot. Besides the trigger, what I like most about the cz is the lpa sight cut. My cz trigger is nice and crisp, but the glock trigger is lighter. My glock trigger is horrible, it feels like a wet sponge and completely lacks a break. With the glock I wasn't going for feel, I only wanted to get the weight of the pull down. It's under three pounds and the weight of the pull is all I notice when actually shooting.
I switched back to my glock because it's lighter and feels better in my hands. The glock is lighter which makes my transitions and draw faster. It's easier to start and stop the pistol. With the cz I would always find myself either transitioning slower than I would like or I would over shoot the target as I try to get the weight of the pistol to stop. My reloads are also faster with the glock. The mag well feels like its twice as big as the CZ. I basically can't miss a reload.
One thing the cz has going for it is that it does have less muzzle flip. The glock has more muzzle flip but after shooting both I realized that isn't a problem. How high your muzzle rises after the shot isn't an issue, what is is how consistently the sights track and how quickly you can get the sights to settle for the next shot. With the cz the sights don't lift as much but I can't get them to track as consistently and they shake a little more side to side after the shot as I get the weight of the pistol settled down. With the glock the sight track straight up and down and then return to the original spot faster than with my cz.
How comfortable a pistol is in your hands is a personal thing, but I like how the glock feels more than the cz. The cz is more comfortable when shooting one handed, but as soon as I put my weak hand on the pistol the glock feels better. It must be the glock perfection grip angle.
When it comes to accuracy both guns are about even. At first I was shooting the glock better than the cz at 25 yards because I wan't use to the cz trigger yet. Now I can pick up either gun and my groups will look the same.
Clifs-
transitions, draw and reloads are all faster with the glock
glock feels better in my hands
glock has more recoil but that isn't an issue
both guns are accurate
