Well, I have three---a 1969 C-series, a 1978 polished blue fixed sight and a recent MK111 with the factory SFS trigger system in matte finish. All three put 'em right where I aim---no complaints there---the more modern P35s seem to like JHP ammo better---if you're looking for a shooter, I would look for a later MK111---better sights---feeds JHPs---ambi-safety, etc. Prices have really gone up in the last few years---you used to be able to get a pretty nice used pistol for $450 or so, now they seem to be around $750-850---I guess everything else has also gone up... -
Look for a GP Comp if you can find one and pay whatever it costs.

You can get anew one at Turners at $1000 +/- or used ones tend to be about $800 in CA. I got mine new in 1982. It is really nice.
The downside to a used BHP is the previous owner may have tried to make it more like a 1911 instead of accepting it for what it is. JMHO

I have two 1992 Israeli Surplus MKIIIs that I got off Gunbroker. Got them for $550 each a few months back. Check out seller CDIsales. His pictures suck but his grading is good and pricing is fair. He is also CA friendly.
Keep in mind that you can get one with the FN name on it instead of the Browning name, it is the EXACT SAME gun.
Contrary to what some may tell you, the FN version is also on the roster.
If you want one to build up into a custom gun definitely look at one of the surplus ones.
Mine were $550 apiece but graded "excellent". Ones with more wear are cheaper.Comment

I have one from the 80's that makes my banana swell with love, I'll never get rid of it.
I also plan on adding a new BHP to the clan, all the jibber jabber about the crappy trigger pull is just that. It's an easy fix and to be honest the stock trigger pull isn't bad as is. People (internet) tend to compare their highly tuned and polished 2.5 trigger pull from their $3000 gun that sits on a velvet pillow to a stock BHP so of course it's not as nice.
New or old you can't go wrong.Comment

Bought mine used 2 years ago. Looks like an early 80's model. Great shape and I love it. It too makes my banana swell with love !!!! I think people talk trash about the BHP because its an old design. It's a great gun easy to shoot clean and it's very accurate. IMHO !!! Think I'll check out gunbroker for 1 of those Israeli Surplus MKIIIs.sigpicComment

I bought a new one from Turners on "sale" a couple of months ago.
I have had it to the range twice. Both times I shot a box of 50 round nose through it. Feels nice and looks nice, shoots ok too. Maybe just not for me though. I was thinking about new grips and sights but don't think I want to put any more money into it.
I'm thinking of selling it. I will probably put it on the marketplace here eventually. Feel free to PM me if interested. (I'm near Riflegear).sigpicComment
