    I'll take it! $1!

If this is for a future sale, you're probably better off going to gunbroker and seeing what they've sold for.

A couple of LGSes near me usually ask around MSRP for Smith revolvers. If I can get it down to low 8s, I'll buy. The 686 comes in several models and barrel lengths? If this the one you really want? Prices will vary quite a bit.

This the one with the rail and skeleton underlug? Are you competing?

no rail, it is a 7 shots one 5" I think.

The 686 Pro has a 5" barrel that looks like one from the Performance Center with a tapered lug and flat sides and no rail. The cylinder holds 7 and is machined for moonclips. The front sight is replaceable.

Skeletonized underlug? Is it 6" with removable weights? If yes, that's the 686 Competitor. It has a dovetailed front sight, 6 round cylinder not machined for moonclips, and top rail for optics. It's really nice, but it's also $1300.

regarding the pre-lock S&W revolver, pricing can be all over the road for any/all models. i'm not on top of pricing for current production variants, but i'm sure there is price tag variance there as well.

Super condition my guess would be $750 - $850.

Lots of threads of people trying to value their guns lately. Like some of the others have said gunbroker might give you a good idea of what they've sold for.
The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria)"
