i clean a lot because i shoot a lot of cast lead reloads. i would really like to keep the barrel from leading. but definately over cleaning can be a problem, just make sure to be careful with the rifling and the crown, use CLP and you'll be fine. i spend about 10-15 minutes on a handgun, and that's depending on what it is and how easy it is to disassemble. glocks take no time at all. the XD though, takes a little more time. the taurus takes a little more time than the XD.

According to Brian Enos, one of the top shooters in the country, he likes his guns slightly fouled. They run better for him. As for shooting lots of lead, I reload and shoot lead. After my outings with lead, I'll shoot a mag of jacketed to clean the lead out so to speak... it's much easier and safer than scrubbing my barrels to death.Doug
