The Sig p229

Hey guys, just traded for a Sig p229 DAK and wow is it amazing! The fit and finish is better than an HK!

I compared it to a newly manufactured Sig p226 and the new Sig really lacks in the fit in finish department.

My Sig was made in Germany, along with the frame.

The new Sig is made elsewhere now from what I understand.

My old Sig is nothing but perfectly machined smooth parts, the trigger is like sliding two pieces of polished glass against each other with royal purple oil between them. The trigger is supposed to be 6.5 lbs but it feels like 3-4 because it's so smooth. The short reset feels like 5lbs.

The new Sig has a textured (parkerized?) Barrel that is inconsistent. The barrel crowning looked like a kid made it with a hand drill. The gun felt...worse.

I was really looking to get a p226 for the range, but now....

Anyone have any similar experiences to share? How does your new or old Sig feel/look as far as fit and finish?

I bought a 226 about 13 years ago and a 229EE about 3 months ago. They both functioned fine, look fine, etc and both felt a bit over priced. A Sig is a Sig to me.

I don't k ow I don't take my guns apart and knit pick them if they work.

I have two P229s from the mid 90's and they are indeed excellent pistols in every respect. Both have outstanding triggers that just keep getting better and utterly reliable feeding and ejection.

Fit and finish...more for safe queen gun. ..
Sig p229 more carry, HD, range, and duty purpose gun.

I like my old and new Sigs, no complaints about either but I do prefer the older ones.

I have a 229 scorpion that is a few years old. It's appearance is pretty much flawless as well as its function.

My Sigs are newer but was able to handled good ole P225 & P226 and all I can say is WOW! I don't know if the reviews I've read prior to shooting them affected my perception but they are smoother.
That being said, the ones I have are all rock solid and no issues except the only one (wife's MK25) that's kali-version. Mag-disco broke after 5,000 rounds but it's all peachy now.
