Springfield 1911 mystery

Why does it seem like Springfield 1911s are hard to come by at shops. I always see Kimbers everywhere but nothing for Springfield. Even on Gunbroker
and such there are 2-3 times more Kimbers vs Springfields. Does Kimber have a bigger factory or more workers? Whats the deal?

The Brazilian made SAs have been very hard to come by lately. For some reason they are just not producing enough guns to meet the demand. SA reps have been quiet about it and claim they don't know what's wrong. Perhaps a labor dispute of some sort.

My son has a Springfield 1911, loves the hell out of it. He said that there is some new cockamamie Cali law change that Springield have decided not to follow, instead have given up selling in Cali.

I don't know this first hand, so it's just a rumor to me...

It's not just CA. My girlfriend's dad in NM is looking for a Springfield 1911 and nobody has one. Several places told him 6 months wait, places like CDNN only have 1 in stock, can't special order from Springfield.

I can see why they are hard to come by. I have three and they are all very nice shooting pistols.
