    I'm confused about Glock Gen4

I see Gen4 Glocks for sale in the Marketplace, but on the California Roster website, when you search for Glocks on the roster, there is a statement at the bottom of the page that says "No Generation 4 Glock handguns have been approved as of: Wednesday, October 07, 2015."

Are all these Gen4's for sale from out of state? That's the only explanation I can think of...I'm looking at the purchase of a G19 and want to know whether to consider a Gen4 in the mix...

    Thanks!

They were most likely purchased under sse last year or before when it was possible.

Could also be sales from the exempted classes aka the "more equals"

This is why the gen4's command a premium in CA, as well as the M&P's. I'm in the market for either a gen4 G34, or an M&P Pro... both are like looking for unicorns. I really hate California.

I am simplifying this for you:

You saw gen4 in the marketplace because you can legally buy a gen 4 through a private party transfer. The gen 4 is no longer in CA roster means that you cannot legally buy it from the gun store. The gun store can only sell the gen 4 to law enforcement officers.

Gen 4 Glocks got (and still get) here legally when people moved into state with them, were gifted them by direct family from out of state, or from LEO who buys them, tries them, then sells them later. And yes, a lot of them were also bought when the Single Shot Exemption was in play. All told, that still leaves a very short supply to meet the demand, so they command a premium when they are offered for sale by private parties.

Simply put, handguns that end up in california that arent on the roster come here through various ways:
                  SSE that ended last year
                  LEO whom are exempt
Intra-famila transfer (your own kids/parents from out of state)
And lastly, people who end up on moving to California with off roster guns.

Thanks for fixing the error. Yup gen 4 was never on the roster.

OP it is normal to be confused about this CA roster crap. You are not alone.

OP, where were you during 2014? Just about every other topic was SSE related. Did you go to any good gun shops that does SSE during the last quarter of the year? Those lines were legendary.

Yeah, I remember the topics, but at the time my wife was not into shooting and I had all the handguns (1) I needed...

I did not see a line at my LGS. Guess I was lucky, although there seem to be less SSE guns located in the Bay Area for sale in the classifieds.

I believe there was only one gun shop in the bay area that was doing sse
