Preferred 9mm Self Defense ammo

Trying to get the answer for the age old question: What is the preferred 9mm self defense ammo? I own a Springfield XD 4" 9mm Service Model and love it. Currently keep the Hornady American Gunner 115 grain 9mm HP's loaded in the mags for self defense, and just wondering what is peoples preferred choice of self defense load. Any comments are welcome!

Bottom line; you can't go wrong with any big manufacturer's newer jhp. It's really a matter of your weapon choosing to cycle the ammo reliably, and the accuracy. YOU have to test it in YOUR gun. What my gun or Joe 6pack's likes can only be a suggestion.

Try to get some online, typically a 50 box costs the same as a 20 box in the store.

me, my department gives me Winchester 147g and Federal 147g.

Federal HST 147gr is my first choice.

For a 9MM, the Federal HST 147g is the best performing round I've seen. It opens wide, and penetrates deep.

Use any HP. I think to much thought is put into this for home defense. I doubt an intruder would stick around for more than one shot heard and/or hit with.

Any reputable defensive ammo will be fine. For 9mm I use speer gold dots since it functions well for my guns.
