    Gunsmith Recommendations

I'm in desperate need of a referral to a quality gunsmith who is competent working on 1911s in the IE. One of my 1911s is showing a baffling combination of failures that all started suddenly and I can't track down the source. Extra points if the gunsmith is willing to look at it for free to try to find the problems.

I am fairly competent myself with diagnosing the most common issues but I am by no means an expert and I am far from a gunsmith.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Soooooo, you want the name of a professional, high quality pistolsmith specializing in 1911's who works for free?

    Sorry, don't know anybody.

      What are the issues?

And you're unlikely to find a smith who will agree up front to work for free. If a customer brings me a gun and it's a two minute fix I usually don't charge them. But nobody knows that until they get the gun into the shop.

Most gunsmith will check it out for free long as they do not have to take it apart. So most of the time, it wont xbe free since gunsmith will have to take it apart to see the problem.
