The universal tool may give you more options if you venture away from stock profile sights.

The p series tool has issue with trijicon sights as well, I've never heard of the universal block having a problem.
The universal tool splits into an upper and lower half. You could put shimming washers between the halves and increase the distance from the slide to the mechanism that is doing the sight pushing. It still has the disadvantage (as do most sight pushers) in that it's pushing on the upper portion of the sight as opposed to engaging it at the dovetail.

The MGW Universal tool is a very nice piece of machinery. Is it the perfect tool, no. I haven't found the perfect pistol either.

I have the M&P MGW tool. Works great. I have used it on a Shield also...it does not work well, but I made it work for the rear sight.
