Range Report with G19 10rd Mag

visited the range today with my G19 RTF 2 Gen 3 - G19 Gen 4 - G17 Gen 3 Chopped to G19 for some testing. Had 25 mags in total with only 5 of the mags having the 9mm3 followers. The rest having the 2813 followers. Guns and mags worked great. Shot FMJ and JHP "900rds in total" with out any problems. My daughter also didn't have any issues and this is only her second time shooting a gun. I wonder what brand of ammo are you guys shooting ? And causing issues with your G19 10rd mags.

All and All is was a fun day to go out to the range and spend some 1n1 time with my daughter before she to go back to her base. Now I just need to restock on ammo.

Last year I took my two kids to Gunsite for their first pistol class, and for the sake of simplicity we took four Glock 19 Gen 4's, and fifty (yes, 50) magazines. Most of the magazines were the pinned fifteen round version, but a few in the batch were stock ten round. Using ammunition labeled as Tula, WPA, and Wolf, all of which was steel cased ball, we had ZERO malfunctions. Keeping in mind that during a portion of class the instructors have the students purposely set up malfunctions for training, the guns and mags all worked 100% when called to. We fired a combined 3,500+ rounds for the whole week including a low-light after dark session. Say what you will about Russian Ball ammo, but for us in a whole bunch of different Glocks, it has always been reliable.

I had issues with different brand ammo: PMC, Freedom (new), Blazer. Didn't matter the ammo as it's a magazine issue.

Out of 10 magazines I had 2 that would cause issues every time. Called Glock and they sent me all new 9mm3 followers. My issue didn't start until I had over 1,000 rounds through the gun. It's really just a hit and miss thing. It's not every G19 and not every mag so if it hasn't happened to you count yourself lucky.

One question about the steel cased stuff, were you running it with factory glock barrels or aftermarket?

            Factory Glock barrels.
The 9mm steel-cased ball is so cheap that it is not worth our time to reload for that caliber.
However, we also have a much older Glock 21 (Gen 2) that has well in excess of 25K through it, shooting almost every type of .45ACP ammo available. When shooting lead bullets, we have a drop in Lone Wolf stainless steel barrel for that one. That same barrel also functions in another pair of 21's, both Gen 3.
Never had any issues with any of the Glock .45 magazines, either ten or thirteen round versions.
Of interesting note is that in our experience Glocks do very well with steel-cased ammo, even reloaded steel-case ammo in which the cases are boxer primed. Likewise for bi-metal bullet jackets; in the above mentioned 21 Gen 2, accuracy testing reveals almost no difference after many thousands of rounds when the weapon was test fired from our Ransom rest. I would imagine the same result would come from a Glock 19.

Yes sir. Gun show deals. Buy used beat up mags at gun show for $10.00 each. Sent them to glock "you have to pay for s&h" and glock sends you new mags.

                        No good reason.

Glock is one of the best for customer service. I have had mags cracked/ missing springs/ floor plates and they have still replaced them with new updated mags.

I can't believe people are still using 2183 and 9mm3 followers with their 10rd G19 mags. I can easily and consistently induce Failure to feed with both followers. I don't want to get into much detail because I am burnt out from posting about it so many times.

As long as it is not plain lead projectile.

                              Shoot it.
