s&w mod 66-1 with a colt barrel? or what is it?

hi, i just bough this revolver from my friend. all he knows it's some guy build it for him 20 years ago. some kind of custom shop name of bill davis.but when i google bill davis, only shop up some kind of weird revolver with some crazy sights on them. i went to a few local some in San Francisco, they cant tell me thing about it. but they said the trigger was tuned better than any s&w they sold. seem to be a colt barrel, but doesn't have the two pin sight like the picture i see on google. looks cool and shot like a dream. any info or value of this gun would help. thanks stan.

Is this one of those joke posts where you know exactly what you have, but are playing dumb so you can show off?
Bill Davis was a PPC god. You have what's referred to as a Smolt. SMith/Colt.
    Congrats.

Not weird. The firearm in question, as said above, is a "Smolt" - a Smith & Wesson 66 with a Colt Python barrel fitted to it. When the conversion was done by a competent gunsmith these were considered to be the hot ticket for a period of time, giving the shooter a lower cost base firearm with a good, non-stacking DA trigger pull and the accuracy of the Python barrel's rifling.

You have a very nice custom handgun there, OP. Congratulations!

A Smolt! Best of both worlds! And a snub at that, sweet!

I had a Bill Davis PPC Smith on a Mod.10 frame. Bull barrel and 50 yrd. Millett sights.Very very accurate wheel gun.Bought it in the 70's from The Cop Shop on Highland Ave. San Bernardino. At the time it was owned by a CHP that worked nights.Mike opened the shop in the late afternoon and closed about 8pm. He and Wilson from Wilson's Gun World had a price war almost every week. Fun days back then. Yes it is a Smolt

As noted above, it is called a SMOLT. Rather popular a few years back. A heavy barrel on a S&W K frame.

I don't have time to read thirty posts, but it's a SMOLT.

A smolt would be so cool. Remember those from days past.

You have a very cool revolver; it would be easy to sell.

                          smolt

I had a "SMOLT" built by Davis years ago when i shot police PPC competition. Had a 6" python barrel. Was considered the best combo, built on a model 10 frame. Colt barrel accuracy with the short smith stageable double action.

                          Wish I still had it.

I think some people calls it "Smython." I had couple of PPC revolvers built by Davis when they were in Orange county in 1980s. I won a few matches with it.
