Ed Brown in So Cal Gun Stores

I'm interested in buying a 1911 Ed Brown, but before I shell out the money, does anyone know where I can put my hands on one in So Cal gun stores before I pull the trigger? (no pun intended) I'm sure it will be great; just want to feel it before I spend that kind of money!
    Thanks for your input!

Gun World in Burbank has a few as of last week. I don't think they have moved at all.

Sometimes Turner's in Pasadena carries some. Maybe worth it to call to confirm first.

    Good luck!

Who builds incredible 1911s, I've bought two of his guns and would buy more.
Actually the bad customer service rep, is very old and out dated. The current customer service is outstanding, Justin is extremely helpful. But they don't suger coat things, if they don't do something their not gonna make an exception for you. They just started blinding magwells, for the longest time they would not do it, Ed didn't believe it was useful or worth the cost and effort.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

Congrats on the upcoming purchase! Ed Browns are incredibly nice - and i'd never steer you away from buying one. Even if your heart is set on an Ed Brown - I'd encourage you to check out comparable Wilson and Nighthawk pistols as well. Guns at this level, regardless of the maker tend to be incredible examples of precision craftsmanship and look, feel and shoot delightfully well. I've also found that guns at these levels have so much hand fitting work done you can occasionally find individual examples that are particularly well built. For instance, I once went in with the specific and determined intent to buy an Ed Brown Kobra Carry - and ended up buying a Christensen Arms Govt Tactical. While the Ed Brown was a beautiful and awe inspiring piece, this PARTICULAR Christensen (I haven't seen another - so I can't comment on Christensen's overall build quality as a brand - just this one example) was much nicer, had more intricate stippling/front strap patterns (better than the snakeskin) that was finished to a much better degree, was both tighter and smoother, and perhaps most important - had a superior trigger feel and break.

This is not to say don't get what you want.... or to even tout one brand over another - merely to state, I'd suggest going in with an open mind - and trying to put your eyes AND your hands on as many custom 1911's as you can in your price range. After all, 50% of the fun of the purchase is shopping, no? Going to look at an assortment of high end 1911's, knowing you can and will take home whatever speaks to you, is tremendous fun. If you have to do it several times, over the course of several months - all the more fun... but don't just settle on a gun, and in fact I wouldn't even recommend buying a particular model, unless you've inspected at least TWO of the SAME model gun (could be at two different stores even).

If you ever have the chance to look at two new, high end semi-custom 1911's of the exact same make and model side-by-side, you'll most definitely find and feel differences between the two. If you're going to spend $3K+ make sure you at least have a general sample set, and know the exact gun your buying fits within spec, or is a particularly fine example.

Example: My early, very low triple digit hundreds serial number NightHawk is much nicer than three other examples of the EXACT make and model I inspected at other gun stores that week. If I had bought the first one I saw, i'd have no idea how much tighter fitting the slide could have been, or crisper the trigger could be.

How I learned the hard way: Years ago, when I bought my first high end 1911, I had my heart set on a Les Baer Premier II with the 1.5" guarantee. I called ahead and the gun store had one in stock. I went in, inspected it - and the trigger had a bit of take up, but the salesman assured me that was normal for LB's and proceeded to dry fire it with his eyes closed several times, remarking it was perfect. A few months later at a shooting range, I ran into someone with a LB PII with 1.5" just like mine and for chuckles and grins we swapped guns for a few rounds. Well - I liked his trigger A LOT more, and it had zero creep and a much better feel. If I had handled his gun, before buying mine - I definitely would have bought his instead. It's nothing I can't get taken care of sending the gun on a free trip back to Les Baer... but it iirks me knowing if I had been more patient and looked at more of them, I wouldn't have to.

I have a Ed Brown SF purchased new recently, fired 100 rounds through it. Looks brand new, never carried, no holster wear, looks perfect. Wiling to sell it. PM me if interested. Local to SoCal, here in LA Area. Either way all the Ed Brown products are top notch, can't go wrong with any of them, IMO.

I think DGM in San Diego carries some. Pretty sure I've seen some at Turners too.

Check "Annie's Get Your Gun" in Corona. They have a little section for 1911's. I usually see Ed Brown's & Leslie Baer's.

The gunshop at P2k (Project 2000) range in El Cajon has some. As well as some Nighthawks.

Turners in Chino Hills had Kobra Carrys and Special Forces last time I was there.
