Some say yes with a "split PPT"
    DOJ says no.
Finding two dealers that will could be a problem...

      +1,

Some dealers have said they would do it, but recently another FFL on here said he was told "you can't do that" by the DoJ.

I have no experience in such a things, so it's all 2nd hand info from me.
I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

      and

If you're in a survival movie and the hot blond twists her ankle and can't walk, you damn well figure a way to carry her. If it's a dude, you shake his hand and say "best of luck".

          Bullseye?

Check in with the boys at Bullseye... I recall in a previous thread they would handle split ppt's.

          DedEye... where are you?

You need to line up a SoCal dealer as well. Have one in mind?

Here's one way to do it:

              1) Send gun to distant FFL.
              2) Include a DROS woksheet with the Seller's Info filled out.
              3) Distant FFL treats gun as consignment.
              4) Somehow convince the distant FFL to only charge you PPT fee.

As far as I can tell, the Penal code only requires the dealer or the dealer's agent to witness the signature of the purchaser. PC 12076 (c)(1)

The DOJ wants to make sure the new owner of the gun is allowed to own it. Since the seller is giving up ownership, they are almost irrelevant to the transaction.

In a way, a PPT is just an instantly completed consignment and the dealer can't make any money on it (by law) because they put no effort into the sale.

What are people's thoughts on this method?
