    Shot timer apps?

Anybody know of any shot timer apps that are usable? I realize that the mechanical construction/design of a cell phone is not ideal, but maybe someone knows of an app that is fairly usable?

I've been using "Shot Timer" by Innovative Applications. It's been so-so, though I've been using it indoors and that's obviously a tough environment. However, you can adjust for random start as well as delay timing, sensitivity, and set a Par time. It will let you save data as well though I haven't used that feature. I probably use the Par time as much as anything - even if the range is crowded and there's too much noise interference, you can set a goal for your string of fire (e.g. 5 seconds) and know if you were over/under time.

Edit - I'm using an iPhone with electronic headset. Same app as Devilmonkey89.

Why not go buy a shot timer with all the features you want ??

Because if you are at a match, and maybe they need a shot timer, you will have one everyone can use.
And an incoming call will disrupt your run.

FWIW...I had the surefire app on my iphone a few years back....it sucked.

For Dry Practice, the apps work fine...

At the range, they are not worth the time.... too quiet... my battery life already is bad on my cell... too quiet.... Phones overheat in the summer sun.... too quiet....

a good club timer will last forever and is less than what you spent at the range in a trip or two....

A random I met at pala had an app for his iPhone that worked fairly well. It wasn't quite loud enough to hear through plugs though. Otherwise it worked well.

He said it was iPhone only.

That is definitely the best long term idea, but I was wishfully thinking I could find one that will work with a phone, as sometimes when I'm driving home from work or whatever I'll stop at some secret squirrel (well not really lol) spots and put 50-100 rounds through whichever pistol is on me to stay in practice.... I always have a few boxes of 9mm on me.

I have this "ipsc timer-beta" app for android and it sucks, seems like you can't set the beep delay. Need a decent length and (preferably random) delay if it's a phone app that doesn't have a pocket clip like a real shot timer, as you probably have to put it down?

                        Thanks for your input fellas.

I use the one by innovative applications. I only use it for dry fire because the start and par beep on my shot timer is too loud to use indoors. Using it as an actual shot timer at a range isn't that practice. if you just want to use it once it will work, but using it as a dedicated shot timer will frustrate you. It doesn't record every shot or will pick up sounds that weren't shots and the start beep is no where near loud enough
