Help me not be a Richard. Sig P227

First; I've supported Calguns for a few years now, but have never been a forum guy until now. I also never intended to ever sell a gun. I've tried doing a little research first but can't find much for comparison.

Question; Whats a fair price for an (off roster?) Sig Sauer P227 Carry/Nitron Double Stack 45 in new condition with two mags, case, etc.?

The handguns for sale forum rules said "Not for discussions" so I hope I'm not breaking any rules by asking this question here. I may have overpaid for it to begin with but it was worth it to me.

    Thanks!

    I love gun.

So let me get this straight.

You currently have it listed for $1100 as of yesterday.
But still felt it necessary to come over here and ask what you should be asking for it a day later ???

I recently purchased the same gun from a calgunner. Mine had 100-200 rounds fired. I paid $950.00 with 6 magazines. Four of the magazines were new.

            No, not necessary, just prudent.
I just decided last night to sell my 227 so I decided to offer it up to the Calgun people first. Never used a forum before, so after reading the rules and suggestions prior to posting it for sale; "WARNING! READ THIS OR RISK BEING BANNED!!" and Revised Marketplace Rules Rev. 5/11 - READ THESE BEFORE POSTING!
Specifically #9) For Sale threads must have a price listed.
If you are unsure of what you want to ask for an item list a price you think is slightly higher than what you want to get and simply state, 'willing to negotiate'.
I put it up for 1100 (what I paid minus tax and fees). I'm not looking to make money on the deal, I assumed I'd lose money as I stated already that I likely overpaid to begin with. However, due to the "apparent" short supply of this particullar gun available in CA to non-law enforcement, I thought I'd ask the more informed than I Galgun community what I should expect to get for it. Thanks for your help Rich.

If that's what you paid, go with the advice in the rules you quoted. Start it at $1110 and see where it goes. Even if you put "Firm" people will still bomb your inbox with offers.

$1110 is probably high but not insanely so IMO, so ultimately it comes down to how much of a loss are you willing to take, if any.

Put it to you this way: a P227 Carry comes up for sale maybe once or twice a year here. They are pretty desirable to some folks, very hard to get if you don't have an exemption, and some people just have more money than they can spend.

Don't sell yourself short - I'd be looking to get no less than what I paid, for sure don't take a loss unless you are hard pressed for cash. I'd say your current listing is in the ballpark.

Riflegear is selling them for $999.99, so after tax I don't actually think you overpaid at all. Generally a lightly used off-roster is worth about the same as a NIB out of state to me. So $1100 is a solid price, so much so I'm almost tempted to make an offer...

                      Thanks Rhyyke.
Yea, wanted one real bad but thought I couldnt have one in CA. When the opportunity pressented it's self, I just had to have it and didnt concern myself with getting the best possible deal. I assumed 1100 was a little high.
Dont want to sell it, but times are tough.

Oh well, my motto: Buy high and sell low, make it up in volume.

Just sell it according to a price you are willing to take. If no offers, then lower it to where it is acceptable to you.

                          I agree.

If you are not desperate sit on it for awhile and see what happens. Otherwise I wouldn't take less than $1000

                            Thanks everyone!
That was the type of feedback I was hoping for and generally expected.
I just didn't know if offering it, at basically full price, was a D--K move and didn't want that to be my first transaction here. I love the gun and would like to sell it to someone who's really stoked to get it. We'll see how it goes.
                            Appreciate it!

                              832steve,

Since the gun is off Roster and not available new in normal commerce [except for LEO sales] they
will be desired at a premium in a PPT or consignment transfer [which are Roster-exempt].

GunBroker "light use" price + 10-15% for "California rarity" would be rational.

Red-tag LEO-only price at a gunshop has not much relevance today.
