Does anyone have a 1911 that has NEVER failed?

I've shot about 10-12 different 1911s over the years..

sig, kimber, springfield, colt, ed brown, les baer and more....

EVERY SINGLE 1911 I have fired has had a failure at some point...except for one friend's 1911 a week ago that only has 100 rounds through it now (SA TRP)

I'm not saying they failed when I shot them, but either mine or the owner's have had a failure at some point...

I have NEVER seen a 1911 that has shot more than a couple hundred rounds without a failure...

we all know 1911s usually need a couple hundred rounds to break in, but a majority of these had failures past 500 rounds...



I'm interested to know if anyone has over 1k rounds through their 1911 WITHOUT a failure, even DURING the break-in period.

by "failure" i mean ANY circumstance where the pistol did not fire or cycle properly...this includes limp wrists, hollow points and bad magazines...

I dont intend this to be a 1911 bashing thread, I'm simply looking to buy another 1911, one that I would possibly trust to carry.

it has just been hard for me to carry a 1911 when I have had XDs, glocks and MPs that have NEVER had a failure even after thousands of rounds each..

.,....maybe I have to buy a fully custom 1911 like a nighthawk, wilson combat, etc. etc. etc. to get this type of reliability and I'm willing to do that if i need to, i just really want a carry/SHTF steel framed pistol

I cooked off 200 rounds out of a brand new Kimber ultra carry with 0 issues. The only other is one I sold years ago was a Colt commander in .38 super that was well used and I put around 1000 rounds through it with no issues either.

Nay for me. Some at 100 rounfs or less. Some at 1500 or so but none of mine have made it past 1500 without a failure

Never had a problem with my SA Pro, to be honest I lost count of how many rounds went through the barrel (probably 1000+)

I have several Glocks that shi t the bead nearly every 5th time out to the range.

Well, yes I have.

Les Baer, SA and Kimber, nary an issue except once with my SA which was my fault. I let the recoil spring go about 20 years without replacing and I experienced a failure to feed. Spring replaced, problem solved. And lesson learned. If you know your 1911 and properly maintain it it's as reliable as anything else. I've had a FTF with my G21 with just a few hundred rounds through it due to a crappy mag. I would not hesitate to use any of my 1911's for home defense.

I have a Springfield Armory that has to date (3 years) never failed me, i do change springs every 2000 rounds or so, only use factory ball ammo...

I've been shooting for quite a few years now so don't tend to limp wrist...and i use quality magazines, i prefer Tripp.

My ex-1911 (springfield loaded) would hiccup now and then. My glocks and revolvers have not. I personally love old 1911's, just wouldn't rely on 'em.

I won't argue 1911s, even an SA pro, will sport the reliability of a modern striker fired polymer gun (I keep an HK VP9 next to the bed), but I doubt you'll find a more reliable 1911.

Springfield loaded with about 500-600 rounds and I don't recall any failure with it.

My 1991a1 colt has failed to feed 1 round My son swears that he didn't load a round backwards in the mag but 1 round was feed that way. other than some bad 10 rounder mag's I have zero fear of this failing to run.

colt 1070xse 200 rounds WWB, 1200 rounds blazer brass and 50 rounds hornady critical defense. I hands down shoot this gun for some reason better then any other I own. I was going to try and describe but knew someone would ask for photos. The photo attached was the first time I ever shot my 1070.

I have never even had a limp wrist on this, not one single FTF, FTE, Stovepipe, bad ammo, nada, nothing. I have others but this is the only 1911 that I can honestly say the above.

I have a Para Expert that has a over 1k rounds and has never given me any problems. Cheapest 1911 I own. The funny thing is that I have a Sig 1911 with pretty much the only stock parts is the slide and frame has over 15k rounds through it. It wasn't till it got to high round counts that I was able to shoot it without any issues. A lot of that had to do with springs/load combination but once I found it, it ran fine. I also just got me an STI 2011 in 40. Out of the box I had issues with the extractor. I replaced it with an Aftec one and it just now runs smooth.
