2015 VBOB vs 2015 CBOB, Same Pistol? Yes!

So, I contacted Keith Lawton at Dan Wesson about having Heine straight eight sights installed, flush cut and 30 degree reserve crown barrel and mainspring housing checkering on my CBOB. I mentioned to him the tolerances on slide to frame fit are tighter on my CBOB then VBOB. But the trigger was slightly crisper and lighter on the VBOB. I found this interesting as the Valor / VBOB is suppose to be their Flagship line.

He says, "All our current guns use the same components and are fitted in the same fashion. The VBOB, just has more checkering, duty finish and better sights..."

Anyways, with that said, I feel like a foul that I spent a premium on my VBOB as I think my CBOB looks better anyways. Plus, the CBOB is tighter.

That's absolute BS. They are NOT the same gun. I don't care what Keith says.
One has a "C" and the other a "V". So totally different guns.
As he said, "current" guns. There was a time they were different. Now aside from the sights, some labeling, some checkering, some additional fitting, and the d@mn roster, same gun.

Love the Dan Wesson. I bought a Ed Brown bob 45. Then some of my friends bought the DW. Dang if that $1400 gun doesn't outshoot my $2600 Ed Brown by a big margin. Needless to say, I bought a DW.

          Yup.

Sorta OT but this makes the DW Heritage a great base gun for $1100 if you live in a state without a roster.

Since the PM7 is a forged frame we could have DW fit a Valor slide and have the checkering done to build a Valor post SSE. Also a PM9 could be built on the PM7 frame.

Lots of options. Even a 10mm.

Wish I haven't sold my RZ10..The PM7 route and having a 9mm/10mm slide fitted is pretty tempting.

I thought PM7 was a cast frame? Did they recently switch to forged?

All Dan Wesson's use the same parts and same assembly process according to Keith, VP of Operations.

Ps. Any PM7 or CBOB from 2012 to present will have a forged frame.

The Cbob started using forged frames in 2010.

Yup. That's why Cbobs and PM-7s took a price jump from 2010 on. They switched from cast to forged frames.

Just took delivery of a CBOB.
Complete detail strip and getting ready to break it in. Didn't need to detail strip, everything was spotless, it was nice to see that.
I'm also planning on sending it off to Severans for his Hard Hat treatment. This idea may change however, it's a beautiful pistol! The grips are spectacular as well
