    M&P Shield APEX Trigger

I just picked up my new M&P Shield 9mm and everything people say about the gritty trigger seems to be accurate. I have put about 200 rounds through it, and I am ready to put in an APEX kit.

Is it worth it to get the APEX kit with the replacement trigger, or is the APEX kit itself do the job?

I read some negative things about the replacement trigger and was looking for some feedback from people that have done it.

    Thanks.

Putting the APEX flat face trigger kit into my Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm was the best money I've ever spent on a firearm upgrade. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Did you get the kit that included the aluminum trigger, or the just APEX kit?

Basically is the aluminum trigger worth it?

M&P 9 and shield are two different guns. So which are you speaking about? I own both, and the mp trigger is light years ahead of the shield.

I am speaking about the shield. There are two kits you can get. One with the aluminum trigger and one without.

My firearm is the M&P, not the M&P Shield - sorry for not making that more obvious. Regardless, the APEX trigger kit upgrade is available for both firearms and is a worthwhile addition to either model of gun. The trigger pull is shorter, lighter, much more crisp, has almost no creep, and imparts a noticeable reset.

I shot about 250 rounds from my Shield during a training. For slow fire, it all hit x-ring on B-27 target from 4 - 15 yards. For combat shooting, drawing from holster, it shot all in the kills zone on combat target. I didn't need an aftermarket trigger.

                  This^^^^

If you replace just one thing, replace the USB!!! Doing so will smooth out 90% of the grittiness that M&P's are known for.

Oh yeah, congrats on the Shield!

Thanks for all the input I think I am going to go with the kit that includes the trigger.

I have the kit with the trigger and it is great. I greatly prefer the solid apex trigger to the hinged stock trigger.

In my opinion an Apex Duty/Carry kit is a must-have upgrade to a regular M&P - but not a Shield. I have an Apex kit in my Shield, but it really didn't do that much over the already much improved Shield trigger. My advice is get snap-caps and pull the trigger 250-300 times and see if it smooths out from wear. If not, then and only then should you consider dropping in an Apex kit, but even then don't expect great results from the upgrade unless you polish the firing pin block channel and trigger bar. BTW, since you'll be removing the rear sight to drop in an Apex kit you may as well install night sights at the same time.

Save and buy the Kit. It's really a big difference and you won't be bummed.

Have two Shields, both in 9mm, one with a complete Apex kit and one without. Yes, the Apex kit makes the pistol shoot better, but there is nothing wrong with leaving it all factory either. If you train with it that way, you will shoot just fine with it.

I used to have a shield with the APEX trigger kit in it and it was an awesome setup. I left the stock trigger assembly on it though. I didn't bother with the aluminum trigger kit. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that has a shield. It was a pretty accurate little shooter. Since you have to remove the rear sight to install a couple of the pieces, I would recommend that you replace the stock sights at the same time.
