Is it worth getting a Kadet II conversion kit for my CZ?

I was planning on shooting only 9mm and .45 but I can get an almost brand new CZ Kadet II kit for $350 shipped. I am sure those who have bought it will say it is well worth it, but what other benefit can I get shooting a 22 caliber from my CZ 75 SP01?

$350 shipped is almost 2,000 rounds of 9mm. I'm don't want to buy something just to have it sitting around in my safe. Wouldn't it be better to just practice shooting 9mm?

Besides saving some money on shooting less expensive ammo, please talk me into or out of buying this. Thanks.

I played with one last week. I met up with a member on a trip for work. Admittedly, he forgot the mags, but it was well made. I didn't get to shoot it. It's well made and he says its accurate.

I don't think .22 is going to remain scarce forever. It gives you another caliber on a known, dependable platform. I don't know about that price, but once you shoot that 9mm, you're done. The upper kit will last forever.

I'm thinking about a .22 upper for my glock and sig, and I've already got a couple stand alones.

    Coin toss, maybe?

    Hope I'm not just rambling

I'm going to side with "not right now."

With the continual high prices of .22LR, and lack of supply it becomes difficult to shoot .22LR over 9mm.

Right now, .22LR is half the cost of 9mm. It used to be a small fraction of what factory 9mm ammunition cost, so it was a fantastic took to build muscle memory with low recoil on a familiar platform.

While that still applies, shooting a low recoil round on the same platform, same trigger, same grip, I myself cannot justify shooting 9mm unless it comes down in price considerably... if it goes down.

As of right now, I would use that $350 for more 9mm ammo and get some more range time. Or put it towards a class.

I haven't shot .22LR in almost 2 years seeing as how difficult it is to even find reasonably priced ammo.

Yes, the Kadet kit is well worth it for me. I always take it with me to the range and it is just so fun to shoot.

But I acquired the Kadet kit along with other 22LR guns for the main purpose of training my wife and my kid.

350 is high for me if it is used. You can get a new one from GaG for $377 delivered (2 in stock right now).

I have a few .22lr pistols, the Kadet is up there as one of my favorite. The .22lr are just fun for me (so are the bigger calibers ) to just shoot all day with.

22lr is hovering at easy availability at 8-9 cent, but it does not sound like you have an interest in 22lr, so I say just pass.

I bought one 2 years ago and have yet to shoot it. 22 is so scarce and expensive right now that if you take into account your time searching the Internet or standing in line at Walmart.......9 mm at 21 cents a round or so starts to sound like a way better option. The only reason I bought one was for one day when I want to introduce my son to shooting.....I can start him on a nice full size platform to learn basics without the recoil and noise of 9 mm. But at 350 bucks you are almost into the " just get a whole separate pistol" category

Yup, when a S&W M&P22 was cheaper than a Kadet kit, it was the obvious choice for my daughter.

I would buy it. I bought one and I like it. I think Alphacat? has them brand new for $370/$380 shipped.

It would be $381.09 shipped for a brand new one. Makes the $350 doesn't sound like a good deal. I will see if the seller wants to get rid of it for $300 shipped. Thanks.

The Kadet is well worth it, although I picked one up from Midway USA for about that price brand new. The Kadet is the best conversion kit I've ever seen, and when it is on my SP01 it is one of the best 22 pistols I've ever shot. What I like most about it is I can work on my trigger press on my full size pistol with zero recoil shooting low cost ammo, then swap the slide and continue shooting 9mm.

The only benefit is that you will get used to the CZ platform whether you're shooting 9mm or .22. However by taking shooting classes, different platforms won't be much of a factor because you should be able to shoot accurately with any pistol regardless of platforms. I have a Sig .22 conversion kit and it just sits in the safe because I enjoy shooting the bigger calibers after being proficient with any platform and now focus more on managing recoil and faster shooting. The kit only comes out when my girlfriend goes shooting with me but she likes shooting my other .22 pistols. My opinion, it's better to use that money for the 9mm ammo but get the kit if you enjoy shooting .22s.

I think it would be worth it. A guy at the range let me try his on my SP-01 and I really liked it. Actually I think he is a member here now that I think about it....

                        But yeah, accurate and fun.

My kadet is the king of stovepipe, 1500+ rounds with numerous cleaning this kadet love to jamming. I think it might be an extractor problem, will contact cz usa soon.

Buy the Kadet. Fits in a CZ P-01, SP-01, CZ-75, blah blah blah. Fits in so many versions.

People getting failure to fires, it is probably because of the light hammer spring you put in your CZ when tuning your gun, say from CZCustoms or CGW. You have to go to the stock hammer spring to get a hard enough strike on the 22LR to ignite.

People who are getting stovepipes, it is probably because you are using "underpowered" 22LR ammo. I only use Minimags in my Kadet. No stovepipes.
