    1911 Jones

    Cal Gunners,
It's that time again when I find my safe missing just one pistol. At this time the safe's full of, er, has some Sig Sauers and they're all black.

I'm looking to add something shiney, you know, stainless or nickel. My new addition will also be a 1911 in 9mm or 45 as I already reload those. Price range is "about" a grand. What is suggested by the Calguns audience?

PS On roster would be fine, off roster as well. Off roster just might take longer to find.

    Let's hear it.

I really like my ruger SR1911, about 700 rounds down range and not a single failure. I've seen several for sale at $800 and not moving, which was the retail OTD price during SSE.

-Price range is slightly over a grand.
-Very nice materials for what you get.
-Hand fitted parts, can be observed once you take the gun apart.
-Trijicon real Bomar sights/cuts unlike Kimbers or Sigs which use proprietary sight/cuts.
-Yes I posted it again, I love this gun okay...

      Dan Wesson PM7.

TomT....did you actually get one with the front checkering?? I thought the original pic you posted was just a sample of one with checkering? Nobody I called around to had any idea the PM7 had checkering, and your pic is the only one I've seen.

To the OP.....after a lot of research, I just bought a Springfield 1911 Loaded 9mm for about a $grand. Seems almost everyone notes how much fun it is to shoot Unfortunately you won't get TomT's idea for a grand, lol.

Slightly??? You say slightly??? With an MSRP of almost $1600, it's more than SLIGHTLY over the OP's budget of $1000.

                Nice try though!

Like others have mentioned, get a Springfield Loaded. It has all the bells and whistles you need/want and it's a great gun.

Or you can continue to save and get the Dan Wesson or even a Les Baer later on.

@ Erion929 - NO, the PM7 does NOT come with FSC. He either had DW do it or someone else.

For $1K budget for a shiny 1911 I would recommend a Springfield Loaded Stainless in .45 which is still on the roster. I love my DW's but I don't recommend them because most of them are not on the roster thus you would have to pay a premium for them via PPT.

I will always champion the Springfield Loaded as the ideal first 1911. I walked into a Turners at age 21, all I really knew is I wanted a 1911. The salesman handed me the Loaded and said "this has everything you need and nothing you don't". The man was right... for about 7 years.

You can still find Springfield 9mm 1911 loaded target (ss) online and probably in an LGS. Just bought one for my wife for HD to match her competition gun. The only other 9mm 1911 on the roster is a Kimber.

I thought only the PM9 had front strap checkering... Nice pistol!

As noted, the PM7 doesn't....that one had aftermarket checkering.
