I think I would die if I went a year without buying a gun. Going even a few weeks is weird for me. I have 4 guns in DROS right now. One I bought for the hell of it, 2 were too good of deals to pass up, one was pretty rare and a good deal.

What savings?
The guns are the savings!Comment

i never dipped into our savings to buy guns as most of our married life we havent had a savings account. about 8 years ago we knocked down and rebuilt our home and at this time started paying our property tax and home owners directly and not in our monthly mortgage payments. we now keep a savings account to cover paying the property taxes twice a year. we add to i thru the year and then start over again after taxes are paid. several years ago i sold some collected items etc and had 10 grand in cash and i went thru that on guns in one year. i used to keep up to 10 grand in cash when i raised and fought roosters for years too. any more than 10 and i put it in the checking account. ive always just tried to never put us in financial hardship not matter the reason, be it toys, gambeling, mortgage etc. every situation is different and can change as years go by also.Comment

My wife and I agreed that I get $150 per check or a $300 monthly budget for whatever I want at my discretion. So I just save up for a few months and voila, new gun
That way I get a couple new guns and plenty of ammo/accessories every year , I don't borrow, pay interest or earn the wrath of Wifezilla and lets face it, nobody wants that! I have also been into this long enough to value quality over quantity so I have thinned out the herd to mostly nice guns that I like shooting.Last edited by Capt Jack; 09-04-2015, 9:30 PM.Comment

a public service announcement
So this past month ive spent over 2k on guns. Guess wat??? I was offered a great deal on a sig 229 ee non ca model lnib. Im kinda low on funds atm so im thinking about dipping into the savings.
What should I do?? Im so addicted to collecing fire
firearms. My girl just shakes her head now when i mention firearms lol
Re: Wives/girlfriends. In the AK forum one fellow, in the "how to know she is a keeper" thread explained, "my then girlfriend walked into the bedroom wearing nothing but my shoulder holster and my Beretta 92F one night." Total silence.
Another, in the how to fix the sticky bolt on a Mosin Nagant thread wrote, "my girl friend gave me my Mosin Nagant rifle for my birthday last month..." No one answered him how to fix the sticky bolt, but instead everyone unanimously wrote in effect, "she's your soon to be wife."
At the AR15 Forum, in the "how many mags are enough" thread wrote, "my wife walked in and said, 'you don't have enough mags.'"
Those women mentioned above set the bar. Anything short of that and it's the C word (see ya later).

This has been a public service announcement. We now return to the Simpsons already in progress.

You're assuming I have savings. It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.
How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.

No savings crew here... paycheck by paycheck crew here..
Sometimes pay advance to buy gun.. j/k
Once you keep touching savings to buy something you want.. it can turn into a habit... it's good to have some $$ just in case situation.Comment

Does a safe count? Purchased the stack on 36 gun safe for 599. I know some will say it's not a safe but its way better than what I had before.Comment
