All metal 9mm full size; Help!

Ok kids, I'm getting really frustrated with the lack of options in 9mm with an all metal pistol. I'm not interested in another revolver and don't mind spending the money for a great pistol.

I was ready to pull-the-trigger on a Kimber Stainless Target II but now I'm reading all this about the build/QA quality of Kimber over the last couple of years. I just want a reliable, quality shooter I can feed all the different ammo I have in my cans.

I already have a SIG 226 and would like something with a bit smaller grip diameter for some smaller hands. Thanks guys.

I'll be the first to say it.

    9mm Hi Power!

Try a CZ. There are many variants - 75B, 75B SA, SP-01, etc. Don't try the Tactical Sport model as the grip is wide.

Not sure the BHP meets the "smaller grip diameter" requirement, but it may.

Wouldn't most CZs have a greater grip size vs a P226?

You can always give the E2 grips for the P226 a try. They significantly reduce the size of the standard P226 grip, along with adding a palm swell.

He beats me to this same recommendation. Look into CZ.

The first thing I thought of was a High Power.

When you say "Full size metal 9mm" - the Hi Power is the first to pop into my mind, followed by the CZ-75. I'm not sure if the grips are smaller than a 226, though. If not, then go with a 9mm 1911 from Springfield, Kimber or RIA.

To be honest, if you already have a P226, I wouldn't get another 9mm right now. Why not go for a Springfield 1911 A1 Loaded? All Springfields come with lifetime warranties. That can hopefully give you some peace of mind that if you do have an issue it will be resolved.

Also, if your P226 happens to have the E2 grips on it, you're probably not going to find too many other pistols with thinner grips.

I say go for the 1911.

If you are looking for a slimmer, or smaller grip all steel pistol in 9mm. I think Hi Power is the way to go.

Only thing that need to be done on a new HP is spend 5 min and take the mag safety out and you will be good to go.

Browning Hi Power, CZ75 and variants, Beretta 92fs and variants, Sig P series (p229, p226 etc), 1911 in 9mm

For slim grips, the browning designs are great. 1911 and Hi Power. U can also look into slimmer grip on CZs.

Very few single-stack metal 9mm's exist anymore outside of 1911's.

To me, the BHP & the CZ PO-1 stand out but they are double stack, so no real significant reduction in grip size.

Kind of under the radar but if you can find a nice one the S&W Model 39 is a beauty!

My Sig has the Hogue Extreme G-10 Grips and they're awesome. This one that I'm buying now is more for my son and girl to shoot. They really enjoy the Sig, but both comment that it would be nice to have something a little smaller in there hand. I wanted to also stay in the 4.5" to 5" barrel so the recoil is nice and chill and as accurate as possible.

Some of my favorite full metal 9mm:

                            Springfield Loaded 1911 9mm
                            Beretta 8000F Cougar
                            CZ 75/SP01/P01/Compact/.........
                            HK P7 PSP/M8/M13
                            Baby Eagle
                            German Luger
                            Korth/Korriphila in 9mm

Getting more and more into polymer frame these days. They aren't too bad and sure have their advantages.
I'd rather be at the range!

The Hi Power is great but they also cost a lot more than CZs. I would look at a CZ 75 SAO. They go for about $600 and they are great shooters out of the box. If you have small hands get the aluminum grips from CZ customs.
