LIVE round stuck in Glock?????

I have a live round stuck in my G17. First two shots fired fine then the gun jammed. It is a stock Glock with a Lone Wolf barrel. I cannot take the upper off. How do I clear it????????????

Well, first of all be very careful and obey the four rules while handling it.

Second, make sure it's a live round so you can work with certainty. Take a pencil/pen, and gently slide it down the barrel, note how far in it goes, and then compare that to the barrel length externally (to see if the brass is empty or is indeed a live round). Don't look down the barrel.

To clear it: A number of methods exist, but sometimes simplest is best. Make sure you've got the gun pointed in a safe direction, grasp the slide firmly with one hand, and then slam the palm of your other hand into a firing grip (finger off trigger) and continue forward. Visualize this as putting your firing grip right through the handle. Typically blunt force like that will overcome any small defects in the brass that may have caused a jam. Don't hit it so hard as to overcome the strength of the hand holding the slide. Sending loaded guns twirling through the air toward the ground is typically frowned upon.

Let us know if this doesn't work and we can come up with a next step for you.

That did not work. If I take the plastic piece off the back of the upper will that let me SAFTELY remove the firing pin?

you cannot take the little plate off hte back without taking the pressure off the little locking thingie(firing pin sleeve)

ps you can take the plate off the back,, but you may scratch the hell out of it in the process, may or may not be worth it to you, it would to me though

Just for future reference pistols have a frame and a slide. AR-15's have a lower and an upper

maybe put some tape around the blade of a flat head screwdriver and try to wedge btween barrel and slide at the breech? (may also scratch finish)

You can also try the double overhand grip to see if you can move the slide back. Put your thumb in the front part of the trigger guard and wrap your fingers over the top of the slide. Put your other thumb under the "tang" at the rear and your fingers over the top of the slide. Squeeze and tighten your grip with both hands at the same time.

This pulls the slide towards your thumbs and sometimes it is all it takes to break it loose. It sounds like the round is stuck in the chamber and once you move it a little, it should come free.

The other "last resort" way is to very carefully put a large screwdriver between the barrel hood and the breech and pry until it breaks free.

I slammed the slide against a 2x4 and it popped out.

Now clean the hell out of it just to be sure it wont happen again, and change to better ammo.

I bought this G17 in 1998 and have only shot reloads through it. This is the first time it has ever jammed. I just put the NEW lone wolf barrel on it. The first two rounds fired fine.

the lone wolf barrels have tight chambers IMO, i got one for 357 sig and it was very tight

I reload my own ammo also and have used them on all my Glocks. I have a KKM barrel that has a tighter chamber than the OEM barrel. I take the extra step of dropping each reloaded round into the barrel's chamber (disassembled from the slide). If it doesn't drop in with a "clunk" I don't use it in the KKM barrel.

Just a tip you can use next time.
