I shot one last week... local LEO... What a good looking gun too!.. the simple little taper on top really looks nice. Id say it shot equal to my XD though...

The xd-m is essentially a completely different gun that looks very similar to the original XD. The biggest change is that they changed the process of field-stripping so that it no longer requires on to dry fire the gun to disassemble. If the only changes made were purely cosmetic (i.e. all operating controls and internal guts were identical) they could have tried to push for listing "by similarity" to already listed models.
About the only way I could see getting an XD-m into the state would be if springfield would offer an "upgrade" where you send your standard XD in and they transfer the serial# plate from your XD into an XD-m frame and destroy the old frame in the process. Some how I don't think that springfield would be willing to expose themselves in that manner.
Other than that, find a LEO buddy who can buy offlist handguns and have him PPT it to you.
