In my humble opinion you might think the 'dreaded' LCI looks ridiculous but I don't purchase Sigs based on their beauty factor, I buy them for their reliability and simplicity of use under extreme stress. Two of my Sigs have the 'ridiculous' LCI on them, my P229EE and my P226E. Total round count for both pistols is now close to 3000 rounds. (9mm) FTF count is 2 total and in both cases it was determined the problem was with the round, not the firearm. (Both rounds had bad primers)

And no, I don't work for Sig nor do I work in a business that sells Sig firearms.

I don't buy them for the beauty factor either, but for the reliability as well. For me, I don't need a "loaded chamber indicator" (LCI) to remind me I have a live round in the chamber. I rely on common sense & years of experience

We as people buy things we find appealing. Homes, cars, knives, clothes, etc. It would be ridiculous to deny looks do not play a part in our gun purchases as well.

That LCI is like a cold sore on a chick you want to bang. No matter how hard you focus on her reliability and functionality you can't take your eyes of the glaring pulsing sore right in front of your eyes.

And on a non looks related gripe adding more moving parts to malfunction is always bad.
