Single stack 9 extended mags, where are you?

There are many awesome single stack 9mm pocket pistols out there. I've currently narrowed down my choices between a shield 9, glock 43 or sig p938.

I have one problem with all 3 of these pistols. There's no magazines that hold more than 8 rounds. I just sold my glock 26 because it was too fat and heavy for pocket carry(awesome for everything else and my favorite glock ever). I'm not looking for more than 6-8 rounds in the gun, but a backup mag that can go in the pocket that holds 9 or 10 rounds. Essentially, if there was some sort of base plate extension for the shield 8rd mag I'd be sold on it but I can't find one. If glock had a 10rd single stack mag for the 43, I'd be in a serious pickle

Here's a +1 kit for your mags. Turns the Shield 8 round into 9.

I didn't know these exist. I always thought that the Shield would be a better carry gun if you could have a higher capacity reload mag. With that said, I think the design would be better if it extended the overall length. Squeezing an extra round into the same size usually compromises reliability.

How about the Ruger LC9 series, which has nine-round magazines available?

Not quite a fan of the LC9. I saw that it had those mags but I've narrowed it down to those 3.

Just converted my 7 rounders to 8. These same kits turn the stock 8's tp 9's. follower is Sheet metal (thats how you gain a round) so you still have the same space with 8 or 9 that you do stock. The only people that seem to have issues are the ones that do not follow instructions....

Promag already makes a 10 round mag for the Shield. They're cheap enough that I've considered picking a couple up and testing them for range use.

As I recall there were 10 round mags for the P238/Mustang as well as one floating around for the P938.

I have some Promag mags for my M&P9 and Mini 14. Quite frankly, they are crap. If you get some, I'd love to read your review.

Personally I don't like carrying extended mags. It changes the way the gun handles and changes my grip. I just prefer consistency. If I think I'll need that 8th or 9th rnd in the backup mag I'll carry 2 backups.

If you like it, that's perfectly fine with me. It's just not for me.

I have the TTIs +2 for my G43....they make shooting the pistol so much better. I think the added grip area has definitely taken away some of the the felt recoil.....and minimizes the pistol from shifting in my hand.

Very happy with the TTI stuff....I wish they were not sold out tho, and pricing was less.....but def worth it.

The glock store has the extensions....cheaper....but not as purty!

at best, ProMags are known to be hit and miss. my experience in the past was a miss.

The extended magazine is supposed to be a backup mag, not the one that's in the gun.

The +2's for the 43 definitely give it more appeal but the magguts is even better. Once the +2 is on the 43 then its even taller than the shield with the 9rd. If SW had a base plate extension + magguts, we'd have a winner. I miss the ability of having a G17 mag as a backup for my G26. The G26 was just too large and heavy for me to carry comfortably in my pocket at length which is why I'm making the change.

Agreed. I have a promag for my S&W 915 and it has to be the worst magazine ever made. It won't come out of the magazine well unless I rip it out. I re-purposed it by cutting a hole in the front of it with a dremel so it can now fit into my Ruger PC9 carbine.

                          .
Yes, I'm talking about the backup mags. In an extreme high stress situation, like any SD event lasting long enough to need to reload, I don't want the gun to feel different or my grip to be different.

For me the difference is noticeable enough. Additionally, popping in the 8 rnd shield mags, 1 out of 20 times I'll pinch the crap out of the bottom of my palm that extends below the frame. I don't need that.

many years ago i gave my ProMags away and then felt sorry for the fellow i gave them to.

Practice with different mags in order to be confident.
