    Beretta 92G

I don't know if this is the right board for this question, but here it goes.

I am planning on getting a Beretta 92G (the decocker only version of the 92FS) for my birthday next month through my mom (since I'm only turning 20).

I checked the roster and saw the 92G on there but I just checked again and it specifies only the 92G Elite A1 and the 92G Elite II (and the 92G-SD, but that is way out of my price range). Is the 92G available for purchase in California? I know the 92FS is, but am I out of luck?

Side Note: I think I could buy a decocker slide on eBay or something and slap that on there to get the same effect. Would that be legal? It's just changing out a part that isn't serialized.

    Thanks!

(p.s. I posted this topic in the Legal forum, I'll delete whatever thread doesn't get responded to)

Looks to me like you are out of luck. 92G is a separate model from the Elites and SD. If you purchased the 92FS you can change the slide to a G slide. No law against that. Gets kind of expensive though.

I believe your only other option would to find a private party selling it. If your patient it could happen. I found a SR-22.

Alrighty, thank you for the information!

I guess I'll have to be gifted a 92FS then buy a G slide in the future.

As promised, I'll delete this thread in 20 minutes since the other one is probably in the more appropriate board. Edit: Nevermind, I don't think I have the ability to delete threads.

Honestly if you like berettas, figure out a way to just spend the 1200 on the G-SD. It comes with some upgrades that help justify it's price and you will spend 600$ extra on ammo in no time if you shoot at all. Seriously, just save 100 dollars a month for a few months. Problem solved.

Or buy 2 normal M9A1's and call it a day. Deal with the safety

That's an interesting thought. But, as weird as this may sound, I want the 92FS. It's been one of my favorite guns for as long as I can remember. Maybe in the future I'll get a G-SD, but right now I want that 92FS more than you can imagine.

Also, I already bought a holster that won't work with the frame of the G-SD

Just get the FS and send it off to Wilson Combat to make it a decocker only.

I have a 92g, love it, I am not selling it and it is not a rostered gun. I know the other G models are on the roster but for over double the price of a standard G.

I've thought about doing this. Do you know what they charge for a makeover?

Wilson Combat charges $150 and AGW charges $185 for the FS to G conversion. Wilson Combat has an option for the factory levers [BER-680] or left side only WC lever [BER-637].

Since we're on this topic, if it's not possible to convert a 92fs to a g normally, how is it that both Wilson Combat and Aleghenny gun works provides a service to do such a conversion? Do they do some machining on the slide itself, or is it a specialty decocker part? If it's just a non-standard part, hey one could always buy the part and install it themselves!

Well, not in a hurry to do a g conversion. I have a 92fs, and if I ever engage the safety, I just remember flip it back up.

The FS to G conversion is not just a parts swap. Some milling on the FS slide is required for it to accept the "G" parts. I believe that Josh at AGW was the first to come up with th FS to G conversions. He has also been making 92/M9 upgrades (low pro levers, triggers etc) before Wilson Combat came up with their upgrade parts.

Hmm, I have a 92FS that I simply put a 92G slide and barrel onto. No changes needed. Did this change in later versions?

No but for the money you might as well just send it of to get work done. G slides aren't cheap nor are they steadily available.

OP I have a 92A1 for sale which you can send it off to get work done. It's got replaceable front and rear sights so you have more options down the road.

The conversion that is being discussed is for converting a FS slide to a G variant. You can certainly just slap on a complete G slide if you can locate one.
