Can anyone help me sight-in my CZ75? (SF Bay Area)

***Update: Embarassingly, it was me all long. Today, I tightened up my groups significantly with just better trigger control. I'm still shooting left, but no longer high and left.

I'm consistently getting a high-left print with my CZ75 9mm. I thought it was all me until I shot a CZ75 in 40-cal today at 15 yards and I was dead on with a point of aim hold.

I really want to get the gun back down to point of aim (not 6 o-clock) and would appreciate help from any CZ experts on the forums. I just don't think I have the tools (punch, vise, bench rest, etc) and the expertise to do it myself.

It would be ideal if you had some spare front or rear sights lying around to make the process smoother. Otherwise, I can buy what we'll need ahead of time.

Preferred meet-up location would be Chabot or Richmond rod and gun.

I can offer any of the following:

    -$60 cash
-Spyderco Chaparral Folding knife (this is worth at least $90 so if you throw in a sight or two that would be a fair trade)
-Comp-tac M&P 9mm FS holster with mag and light pouch (brand new)

Let me know if you can help me out!

    Thanks

You need to shoot from a benchrest and determine how far off you are vertically at a known distance to target using your preferred sight picture, so you can calculate the height of the front or rear sight you need. Unless you have adjustable sights, you don't go to the range and make that adjustment. Installing sights at the range is no beuno.

You need to do the same measurement for your windage drift and make the adjustment to the rear sight as close as you can before you show up to the range to confirm or fine tune.

I've never shot from a bench rest before. Does Chabot have the equipment for doing that at the range? I'm a member there if that helps.

Is your rear sight centered on the slide? Take a pic from a top and rear angle and post it. How tall is your front sight?

Have you shot other brand and bullet weight ammo? Tell us about the ammo your using that's printing high left.

You ever shoot at USI Concord.

Rear sight is drifted very slightly (0.5mm) to the right.

How does one measure the front sight? Height from the slide to the top or from the bottom of the sight to the top? I have calipers, so measuring won't be an issue.

I've been shooting 124gr Freedom Munitions Remans.

I don't shoot at USI Concord, but I can make it out there if need be.

You could shoot this at Chabot on the far right of the general public rifle range where there are benches.

First off, do not try to sight in using Freedom remans

Yes you should sight in with the ammo type and weight you primarily intend to use, but try and pick something loaded reasonably consistently for sight in - that excludes bulk remans in my book.

When comparing sights for purchase, they are usually measured from the base of the dovetail, which is the very bottom of the sight - to the very top of the post. If it is a Glock style or similar front without a dovetail base, it is measured from the bottom of the post where it contacts the top of the slide. It is important to know how any sight you are contemplating for purchase is measured, so confirm with the mfg before comparing to yours.

Shooting from a benchrest typically doesn't require special equipment. A steady platform for gun and shooter and some sandbags is all you need. You don't need a ransom rest, you just need a steady platform to rest the gun on and to sit on. I would also get someone else to shoot and confirm the pattern you are seeing before making adjustments or buying a new front sight.

On 75bs they have different height rear sights. They are numbered on the bottom of the sight. I would bet yours is a #4 which seems to be pretty standard. If your gun still shoots high from a rest you will need a lower numbered sight. If I remember right each number is a difference of .010" which will make the point if impact change about 1" at 20 yards. Another option is you can get a fiber optic front front sight from Dawson Precision they have a formula on their website so you can figure out what height front sight to get. Also they do sight installs too.

If you come to dublin I can help you, just pay my range fee.

Dont buy sights yet. Usually 90% of the time it is shooter vs gun

Definitely get better ammo to sight in, unless that reman ammo groups really well. Getting someone to shoot your pistol should validate the actual POI. I suggest picking someone capable of shooting accurately.

Agreed with this. That said I have no issues grouping with freedom new ammo. The remanuf is less accurate but imo.it only really comes into play at 25 yards

Agree. Rear sight is off. Had this issue with an HK USP45. Simple drift adjustment.

Rear sight is off but not in the direction that would make sense based on my shooting thus far. I'm getting a consistent high left print.
