    front strap checkering

Got a Browning Hi-power & noticed that the serial number is laser etched on the front strap. Wanted to get the front strap checkered. How do I get around this?

Put the checkering around the serial #. That is what I would do.

Crap! Not what I wanted to hear. Never had a gun that had the serial # was placed on the front strap. Years ago I saw a Kim Ahrends Hi-Power with 40 Lpi
Checkering. Fell in love with it & always wanted to build a similar one.

The HP front straps of on models that have the SN# in that location can often be thin or inconsistent material thickness. Go to deep with your checkering and you will weaken or even pierce the frame.

Most custom builders will stipple the front strap around the SN#...

          +1

This is how Don Williams of Action Works handles the issue....

^^^^ Only gun that can be stippled and still look classy IMO...

The BHP totally pulls it off.
