Well, if you haven't heard, Apex Tactical Specialties are celebrating their 15th anniversary and are having a 15% off sale.
I couldn't think of a better time to order a Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit from them for my M&P Shield 9mm.
I really like my Shield, but the trigger had some grit to it, and the break of the trigger would disrupt the sights while dry firing so I knew it wasn't living up to it's accuracy potential out of the box.
That, and what better reason to #GetYourApexOn
Start with a field stripped gun, and the kit fresh out of the Fed Ex box.
The kit includes:
1 ea. Aluminum Shield Action Enhancement Trigger
1 ea. Trigger Return Spring Installation Shield Slave Pin (to assist with trigger return spring installation)
1 ea. Fully machined .45 Sear
1 ea. Ultimate Striker Block Kit
1 ea. Ultimate Striker Block
1 ea. Striker Block Spring
1 ea. Talon Tactical tool
1 ea. Shield Carry Spring Set
1 ea. Sear Spring (1/8")
1 ea. 4 lb Rated Trigger Return Spring

Just a few moments later and I had the gun disassembled. This was the first time I had taken my Shield down beyond a field strip:

OEM polymer trigger on left, new Aluminum Action Enhancement Trigger on the right:

I didn't take too many pics of the action, because I was moving right along with the installation. This is the sear housing block with the new fully machined sear already installed. Shout out to Weaponshield - better than frog lube. Come at me.

Next up is taking the OEM trigger off the trigger bar. Since I didn't have a 3/32nds pin punch I used an appropriately sized allen key. Ghetto, but it works.

New Aluminum trigger installed. Apex sets the pin at the appropriate depth from the factory so all you need to do is align the trigger bar, and seat the pin. Simple, simple.

Installed here (and in the photo above) is the polymer slave pin used to hold the trigger return spring. This makes installation of the trigger and trigger bar a breeze.
